In an update to the court action against the owners of PSJAILBREAK, I have gotten all the possible recent court documents that are available right now at much personal cost to myself (money for documents), but I thought it would serve the public good to see what the Sony legal dogs are using on us.

In this boring legal filings by Sony, it now covers not just PSJailbreak, but also names PSGroove, PSFreedom, OpenPSJailbreak, and they have filed printouts from various blogs, forums, and sites like PS3NEWS with comments and tutorials people have been writing up on how to use these various programs. They even mention of course the phone ports & TI84 calc. hacks.
Sony is using this information, to get the courts to order up faster service, to force the various ISP', Domain Register's, and Web Hosting Services to give up the personal info on their clients so that can serve more court papers on those people, and issue DMCA takedown notices to shut down various sites.

So for the Judge has only granted one order so far, this one is directed to YAHOO! to within 5 business days to turn over all the information they have on a "[email protected]", all IP's he used to access his mail, his personal info stored by Yahoo, his email of course, and other logs.

This E-Mail address is the one that was used to rent the mail-drop box in Texas used by http://shoppsjailbreak.com as their virtual office for orders, shipments, registering the domain name, etc.

Recently, that above name site which also goes under the company name of Zoomba stop using the ".com" domain and now is operating under a http://shoppsjailbreak.net domain. -- Plus also the http://psjailbreakcanada.com site which seems to point IP wise to the older site, has suddenly been changed to DOJ/IPR/ICE notice that has been used in the past for "Torrent/Movie" site take-downs!

Anyhow, here is all the public court documents you can read thru them now, and see just what SCEA has been printing out about yourself online, they are asking the court they need to findout the true identify of everyone that sells, makes, offers for sale, or even has just knowledge of the real people behind any project called PSJailbreak, PSGroove, OpenPSJailbreak, PSFreedom.

Don't be surprized if the next few days, you see less sites online, or you find yourself answering the door to a person serving you a Summons to Appear! -- The good reading stuff is the PDF's called Exhibit or Exhibits!

Nintendo lost

A long time ago.

Sony is still in the game, and is currently winning.

so wait i thought these clones didnt use official sony code and are legal? im confussed?
I don't know. I'm not familiar with these kinds of things when it comes to legal issues. The acronym DMCA (which I'm kinda familiar with) pops up. Probably has something to do with that.

Sony its your fault for making a console that is compatible to all O/S! Now you trying to put a court order on something that was your mistake in the first place?! Shame, shame...

They're piracy tools.

The laws have specific notices about "tools that have no prominent use other than piracy", in their own words. It's how companies can continue to specifically target flash carts and anything sold with the intent of allowing game backups (since it encourages piracy).

EDIT: You'll notice no mention of the teensy++ boards and such because they have prominent uses other than piracy, instead they mention the jailbreak code you can use on them, as that's a piracy tool (software is included, check out the history of dvd decryptor for more info).

Ah! So Sony is really into fighting it.. then let the battle begin! Honestly, half of me supports these exploits while the other half supports being legit..

DMCA= Digital Millenium Copyright Act. Its the same thing Nintendo used to have "unauthorized" images of Pokemon Black and White taken off various fan sites by stating that they violated "Intellectual Property".

On nintendo's note: it doesn't make sense to go after fansites that are, in a way, promoting their product. I mean, for the ones that didn't use the rom to report their findings on the game.

On sony's note: that's very smart. They are just now starting to make a profit off of their console, and since they would like to continue making a profit, they are going to cut the roots of the weeds before they get a chance to fully grow.

You'd think anyone that wanted a PSJailbreak or like wise has already gotten one. I think its too late for Sony, the proverbial cat is already out of the bag.

Yeah, and there blank development boards and phones, and what not. Sony cant ban those. There made for development and been there way before this jailbreak. They also don't mention sony or ps3 and what not.

sony fucked up big time in the 1st place for putting this hack built into every ps3 in the 1st place! they won't stop this they can issue all the court orders all the want pirates have NO FEAR

I don't get it, didn't Sony boast about 'Play Beyond?' for their campaign on the PS3? To me Play Beyond means you don't have always have to play PS3 games however, you can use its powerful system to install other O/S, download other software, and yes including 'jailbreak'. They didn't intentionally created the PS3 for jailbreaking but they did made it to be more than just a powerful gaming system.

Nintendo suing pirates for softmodding the Nintendo Wii...well you got me there.

Nintendo may have crappy piracy protections but they still sell more than Sony
