Sonic X Shadow Generations leaked

Game works just fine on 18.1.0 Switch.

Spec wise it seems to be like this:

OG Generations
handheld: 720p, 30fps
docked: 1080p, 30fps
Slight detail changes between modes. Has the same crappy per-object motion blur as the og game on PS3/360, so it feels very similar to those versions except for its slightly higher res. Shadows are extremely blocky for some reason. This is a near 1:1 port of the og game, I'm not that impressed, they should've targeted 60fps.

Shadow Generations
both modes: dynamic 720p, 30fps
More noticeable detail changes between modes, but overall looks nicer than og gens while running equally smoothly. I'm impressed. Overclocking can improve the dynamic res a bit but the 30fps seems stable no matter what

Does the game look better at Docked or Undocked. You mentioned there’s a detail difference. Which is more detailed ignoring the resolution?

Looks better docked. Slightly more foliage and (in the case of og gens) resolution, but it's not a big difference at all. There's no anti-aliasing in generations though, which means lots of jaggies. I booted up my old PS3 copy to compare and despite having a blurrier image due to lower res, it's honestly a bit more pleasant to look at. Also shadow/reflection quality are better on PS3 for some reason, they're weirdly blocky on Switch.

Shadow gens is harder to say since, unlike og gens, it's using aggressive dynamic res on top of capping at 720p. Handheld mode turns off some details and has more aggressive dynamic res, but looks very similar to docked.

Are you telling me this is almost the same exact thing that happened with Sonic Colors Ultimate? That it's just a remaster with some new stuff?
No, this has much more substantial new content. This is basically like Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, where they bundled a straight port along with an entire new game. "Shadow Generations" is all brand new content, and its about the length of the original Generations. IMO it's actually very good and well worth the price, along with getting to play the og game on modern consoles.

Sonic Generations really is just Sonic Generations, but Ian Flynn (the new main Sonic writer) rewrote all the dialogue in the campaign to fit with his vision of a fully canonized Sonic lore or something. They censored Rouge so she doesn't show cleavage or skin on her back anymore. The rest of the experience is nearly the same as the 360 version, which is nice to have handheld, but less nice if you're already played the game 1080p@60fps since 2011....
BUT, they added new collecathon stuff to Generations. There's 3 chao thingies that are found in rare spots in every map now, so there's new incentive to replay the game.

As for Shadow, while it uses Frontiers's engine, I think the game-feel is much closer to that of Sonic Forces, in a good way. The FPS dips occasionally but it's a super good looking game on the Switch and runs at a stable 30fps and I didn't notice any frame pacing problems. Movement feels a lot snappier than in Frontiers, so I'm very happy with it.

Personally I would wait to see how the PS5 version is. The previews didn't look like a stable 60fps to me in the Shadow portion but we haven't seen Generations footage yet.

Wait, they altered content that was *already* in the original generations by a different writter who fucking sucks at writing sonic harder than Pontac and Graff when put anywhere outside of his officially licenced fanfic comics?

Ironically, I feel like this is a game that I'd need to pirate to justify paying for at full price.

I got the original on PC at launch for ~£20 including S3&k, which just makes paying £45+ harder, especially given my current mediocre feelings towards post generations modern Sonic (both gameplay and story).

I don't care about a Sonic game with a bad story or censored characters. If the gameplay, performance and level design are good then it's a good Sonic game. Play a different game if you want a good story.

That sounds absolutely absurd. Unfortunately, that's what makes it sound like a thing Sega would do.

Nintendo should stop using physical cartridges and move on to digital era to prevent rom leaks
No one with the slightest sense really wants the end of physical media and being hostage to All Digital where the games are not really yours and companies can do whatever they want with it.

i found the file online on the usual site AND on one of the tinfoil shops earlier this morning, game runs fine on my end...18.1.0 CFW

sadly, more and more people want all-digital era because they believe it's more convenient (mostly true) and leads to cheaper games (excluding game sevices and chinese gacha it's totally bullcrap).

Just another remake, but hey, we have Shadow now... And generations at 30fps, why not?

That's disappointing it can't hit 60fps, neither could the game on consoles back in 2011 either.

If you play the 360 version on series X / S consoles they do allow for 60fps play however, so I suspect these will on other consoles.

Totally stupid to think games will be cheaper if digital only, they've been charging the same price for digital as physical for 3 console generations now, physical is cheaper than digital because sales in stores happen faster than digital sales like 95% of the time.

Everything was redone from what I've seen but only the l

It will, but the funny thing about the 60fps patch on Series X is that it wasn't tested properly, so there's scripted sequences that can't be completed if you enable that mode. Not a problem on PC though, and I've played that since 2011.
