1. Yes
2. Then you will be stuck at 3.55 until the next one gets fully patched and risk bricking with that one too.
3. You get bricked and have to send it to me.
4. For the most part.

QUOTE(TwinRetro @ Jan 19 2011, 08:26 AM) If my PS3 was bricked any time in the near future, how much would your services cost?
at this moment it is $80. I might raise or lower the price at a later date, but so far everyone seems happy to pay $80 instead of $300 for a new PS3. I want to pay off my equipment first and foremost. I have spent over to $1,000 getting stuff just to do these ps3 brick repairs including setting myself up to be able to flash the NOR chips too. I've also had to buy a handful of PS3's to do all my testing on.
The best thing you can do is wait a month or two for the chaos that is the PS3 scene to settle down and for one CFW to be universally established as the best one (also the one with the least bugs). Currently there are risks involved with ANY CFW. Most CFWs may not brick as much as Wanin's, but there's still a chance of bricking any time you update with a new CFW.

I'm wondering, if a PS3 was banned, would 'unbricking it' unban the console? You're reflashing the entire system, so I was wondering if the ban would stay or not.

Although ther is no point of trying to imagine what sony might do and how they would do it, but most likely reflashing it won't unban it.

I do have a feeling though that there can always be a way to trick sony's servers into allowing ps3's online, it will always be a game of cat and mouse that I don't care to participate in. I'd buy a new console for online if I cared about it that much before risking my back up capable ps3 just to find out I got banned and will have to buy a different one anyways.
