Hacking Somebody is selling a Switch (Need help)

Hello, somebody is selling a switch at a responsible price. He says he bought it before July 2018 and online playing is possible. I can get it for 180€, but i dont trust him because it is from ebay for just 180€. Is ,,before July 2018" enough information to jailbrake the switch? I ask because he says the serialnumber under the contoller is not anymore readable .

The serial number is also on the box, as well as visible in System Settings.

And It's on the (under)side of the tablet, not the controller.
