arrgh! I have an 8gb Lexar Mark 2 from amazon too! But I still can't run God of War perfectly... everything works except GoW and Daxter!!!!

How frustrating...

I will soon have a 8GB Sony Memory Stick. It is sold at Wal-Mart and I am wondering if this memory stick would have the problems you guys are suggesting. I do not want to play games that possibly lag because of my memory stick. Also I plan on getting a microSD card Memory Stick and I was wondering if a 4GB SDHC card would cause lag when using. If so I will use it for movies or homebrew.

For those with Sandisk and Lexar memory cards, the biggest problem with them is that the quality is not consistent from card to card. I have 2 Sandisk 4GB Duo Mark 2 cards (they're a light blue colour) that are absolute ass. Pathetic read/write speeds that lag just about any game I try. I have a Sandisk Extreme 2 8GB Mark 2 that plays like butter. I've had a friend with the exact same light blue Sandisk card that I have, with read/write speeds close to the Extreme 2. I've tried Lexar cards that are terrible, and a few months later another one that was fine. Clearly their suppliers vary, like the Kingston SDHC cards. (Another brand that varies remarkably.)

The only consistent quality control you can be sure of is the Sony branded sticks. Not a single problem with any of them, from 1GB all the way to the 32GB one.

I have seen a Sony first hand run like crap on some games (GTALCS/VCS for example) albeit on an older CFW -- so it is possibly due to an updated MS routine that Sony didn't use that it allows them to stream better.

I got around to testing GoW:CoO and JaD:TLF on my three cards...

PSP-1000
5.50 GEN-D3
Prometheus v6
Sony UMD emulation
266MHz
Memory sticks: 4G seethru red Sandisk 'gaming card', 4G Sandisk Ultra II, PhotoFast CR-5400 with 2 x 8G class 6 Transcend microSDHCs

All of the tests were flawless on all of the cards. I was a little surprised that the 'gaming card' was able to hold its own since they are crap in comparison to the other two.
