Hello guys.

Context:
Some time ago I've bought a bundle (black) version of Nintendo Wii U EU region (I suppose EU since AFAIK Russia is considered EU). Some time after that I've bought some games for vWii but didn't realize that they were all for the US. Well, it happens, nuff said. So I decided to try to run them via some exploit.

Further:
I've read some threads here and decided to use Riivolution via Letterbomb. It seemed as a simple and safe way to just load a disk region free.
So I downloaded riivolution, and configured Letterbomb for system menu 4.3E with the MAC I viewed at Wii U system settings (must note that my Wii U isn't exposed directly to the Internet but through a router).
I prepared an SD card (1GB) formatted by windows as FAT and dropped all the files needed to the root directory.
Then I've started vWii, inserted the disk and the card and tried to open the Letterbomb.

Problem:
The console found the letter and opened it. Aaand... That's all. All I got was just a message with lots of "?" text and some hieroglyphs I can't repeat.

What have I done wrong?

Really? Was it, like, black speech from Mordor that you shall not utter here? :P

Seriously though, read up when doing this sort of process next time - sounds like no damage has been done but if you don't pay attention to FAQs etc and suddenly decide to try priiloader you could be ending up with a brick (a small 32Gb black brick no less). You'll need one of a selection of Wii games ;)

I admit, I didn't read that table about what exploits could be used in what enviroment careful enough.
Considering that I don't have any drive capable of reading wii disks neither any of the exploitable games, I'd rather pair my WiiMote with Dolphin then :)

Anyway, thanks for the reply :)

Who knows, what if it wasn't just a block of misread binary data, but a warning that next time I risk being disposed by the secret ninjas of Iwata clan? :)
To be honest, I just thought that the contents of the "message" could mean something. Since they didn't, well, ~it happens.

If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

They went all in on streaming, should have been more of a hybrid approach

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

Not to mention this would be a massive pain to pirate

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
