Hi guys and gals,

i'm using my 2ds for modding and such, and ill be receiving my gateway ultra V3 cart (soon) that i recently ordered from Playmods uk. The service there was awesome, ordering/payment/shipping is excellent as their customer service is very helpful and very responsive.

A Few questions that i have regarding my 2ds and Gateway ultra:

1) The newest Gateway Firmware is Ultra 3.1.1 which has support for the N3ds and Cubic Njnia,
i know that it doesn't work booting CN to GW on O3ds (yet), but when GW says no support for o3ds does that include ads as well?
or can CN booting into Gw mode work on 2ds?

2) my 2ds is at 7.1 FW, my R4i Gold Plus cart works fine here, but it won't work passed 7.1? like on 9.2?

3) also does separating emunand from synand protect you from bad cia writes?
like if i install a via in my emunand which is a bad write (for example) does this mess up my synand?

also the cia's installed on my emunand won't appear in synand if emu/syn nand's aren't linked together?

4) since emunand is created from the current FW of Synand, does that mean that i can't have a different firmware emunand than the current synand?
like EX:

my Synand is 7.1 and worked great work R4I gold plus cart,

and my emunand is 9.0-9.2 for themes etc

if i separate them, then i can have separate FW on emu than sys?

5) also can games which have their update data removed via CTR tool or Room tool 3.1 CMD ver work fine on min FW or do they absolutely need the included update data to run at all?

for example Pokemon Alpha sap has update data 7.2, so if i remove this from the game can it then run on 7.1 fw?

that's all my questions, hope this helps.

No you can't use CN to launch GW on 2DS.

Didn't really understand the question, Gateway should work on all firmwares below 9.2, don't know antything about R4i Gold Plus.

That's the point of emuNAND, even if they're not seperated.

No they won't, there's a way to transfer them, but there's no point since they won't boot in sysNAND, only legit cias will boot in sysNAND.

That's precisely why emuNAND is being used, so you can update the emuNAND to the latest version and have e-shop access, while keeping your sysNAND 9.2 or lower, for example my emuNAND right now is 9.5, but my sysNAND is 9.0.
They don't have to be seperated for you to update your emuNAND.

Note : emuNAND 9.6 is not yet supported, Gateway has not yet updated it.

hay, thanx for the reply, Ra1d!

i wonder if CN boot mode will be available for Old 3ds and 2ds, hopefully soon or in the near future.
through the browser method isn't bad, but an offline method like cn boot mode would be asweome :)

also, when i format emunand on my sd card it's firmware will be the same as my Sys Nand?

also is it safe to update emunand via a .cia to a specific version? like to 9.0-9.2 for example?

GW teams says they have no plans unless they get "enough interested users".

If you have an android(not sure if they support iOS), you can download the application called 3DS X-Loader, which lets you run the exploit offline

Yes.

Yes, i did just that 2 days ago when I got my Cubic Ninja on N3DS.

@K3Nv2, I think the RP5 has had 8GBs for a while? I know mine has 8GBs not sure it's needed for emulation though? Probably 4GBs is enough for 99% of what it's fast enough to emulate? I could be wrong if it can do like GC and PS2 stuff maybe more is needed? Probably stream the ROMs like the consoles did off the drives.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I believe what they do is OS and translation layer (emulator) and the emulator has its RAM like 36MBs for PS2 so like 3 times that maybe as things are shuffled around, a frame buffer and. Load the data from the ROM file into that systems RAM. I think I read that even 2GBs is enough if your just using a Pi for emulation.

    What's an RP5?

    Raspberry Pi 5

For me it's just an emulation machine

Like a super mini system, I use Batocera as an OS and it's pretty easy to set up, has a ton of UI skins you can make it look almost anyway you want. Still would kill for a WiiFlow like skin (some are close)
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I bought the 8GB model because my thoughts on that is the the difference between the models is like 20 bucks so why not get the good one just in case.

Almost never hear anyone complaining about too much RAM but not enough? Yeah best to avoid that one. Lol

I did kind of overshoot on storage, a 2TB nvme drive and I think 1TB would have been plenty.

Probably have like 700GBs of stuff on it now, and don't think I can add much more.
