BHi, eveyone.
I've bought a Switch (serial XAJ70032XXXXXX) and want to install a cfw.
I have some experience in WiiU and 3Ds but Switch is new to me.
I've read lots of posts and info, but still have some doubts I'm sure you will be able to solve:
1. What would be the first thing to do? Updating my Switch to 6.2.0? Using OFW? What about fuses? Would it be better to update using Choidojour?
2. Once updated, I should delete Access Point to stay offline if I don't want to be banned, right?
3. Using the jig and Atmosphere or Reinx I would install the NSP with tinfoil or using the CFW option for that, if it has one. Where are games installed? Are they linked to the CFW used for installing, or do they appear on HB?Dón
4. It's important to use reliable sources when installing games, for issues like Pokemon bricks, etc. Any advisable site?
5. When should I backup Nand with Hekate, before or after updating for the first time?
Thanks in advance,
Raúl

1. What FW are you on and do you care about possible coldboot?
2. Yes, and don't forget to link your account as well (some games need it).
3. You choose where to install them. Either SD or NAND. They will show up on homescreen.
4. Can't share here.
5. As soon as you can. So before everything.

Thanks for the quick reply!
The thing is that it's a Xmas gift for my children, so I don't know the FW not even if it's really non-patched (although the serial seems so). I'll have all the info tomorrow.
Now I know that:
2. I have to link my account before payloading and delete wifi connections.
5. I have to back up nand FIRST thing.
But:
1. What's coldboot? Is it how RCM works? (Having to use the jig every time? In that case, I wouldn't mind, I think.
3. installed games are showed in Home but when launching CFW. I cannot launch them in OFW, really?
I'll tell you the FW version soon.
Thanks for all (and Merry Christmas)

4. The main 'reliable' sources out there still aren't safe-proof as something malicious can still slip through the cracks. Not trying to scare you, it's very rare and I still use these sources myself for backups, but it's just something to be aware of. Many, including myself, are just more cautious for big titles such as Smash Ultimate. For those games there are ways you can verify if an nsp has been tampered with to ensure it's safe.

Is xci explorer one of those ways? Hashmyfiles?
Apart from that, it seems that in most cases you can restore your system if you have a backup.
BTW, Smash Bros Ultimate is one of my fav games.

System FW is 4.0.1. How should I start?
I bought Mario Odyssey but urges me to update. Or I can't play.
My jig and sd are on its way home.
Should I officially update to 6.2?
Thanks

6.2.0 is not needed for anything yet, so if you want to update, update to 6.1.0 via choidujourNX.
You need a jig of some sort (even a piece of wire) to get to RCM.
Remove wifi connection or enable airplane mode. Reboot to recovery/maintenance mode (vol up + down on boot). Force shut down from there and boot back to the horizon. You should be able to play super mario now.
You can follow any of these:

When should I backup? At 4.0.1? 6.1.0? Both?
Thanks a lot!

Thanks, I'll get on with it.
Do u recommend me to add my NNID before starting, then keeping plane mode for the moment?
Edit: I tried, but I cannot add my Nintendo account without updating...

I can only advise what I would do, I've set three of these up so far, and only 1 was staying stock, I'm sure others will suggest stuff and bit of conflicting so take any suggestions you get and read up on them.

1. First thing backup NAND, what you should get here are RawNAND, Boot0 and Boot1 (you need both boot0/1 to match the RawNAND), most important, If you never download anything to the NAND these backups compress to about 500MB so save for everyone you want just make sure you have at least lowest one that matches your fuses/1 from before any tinkering.
1b I would backup then update, link accounts get updates/DLC then delete wifi and install custom firmware, in fact its what I did for my family. then once on CFW I'd use Choidojour to update firmware from now on to preserve fuses, however it also means you can update without being online which helps prevent (not perfectly, see below) any bans from being your new years present.
2. Depends some people delete Internet connections, some people use a DNS, some use SX Stealth Mode (only with SX OS the rest are CFW independent), I recommend deleting till your bit more comfortable with the settings.
3. The Switch Defaults for the SD then the NAND, I recommend using SD as it makes Backups Simpler, you can store a compressed imagine of your NAND in about 500MB and then the SD is whatever size you've used on your SD Card.
4. Here common sense rings loudest, there are some idi...unkind people spreading bricking NSP's as big game, if you want to try Download one of these I recommend waiting a Day or two, normally any unsafe ones will be called out within a day or so, if they safe they'll usually be people talking or asking about the game.
4b. Personally all my games are copies of my own personal backups so I don't download many however if your looking for them I have found the best place to find them is asking Nintendo themselves (!) and while that sounds sarcastic I found the Nintendo reports outlining their fight again Piracy actually lists the websites with *backups* ;-)
5. BEFORE *cough* sorry, best to have 1 before you do anything, and I personally suggest 1 of what ever fuses your system is set to, hopefully these are both the same. that way if you ever want to go "legit" you should have no issues, but really with the backups being about 500MB and they contain all your saves, I'd say after you have your primary backup of fresh/fuse matching backup as you would normally, 1 a month or so is what I do.

*Regarding Bans, we have no clue what information gets sent to Nintendo, or how they detect bans, all at the moment is a result of guessing, educated guessing, so there's no guarantee on how to avoid being banned, just what seems to work to for people however there seems to be lots of conflicting advise, the only assumed safe method is once you touch CFW stay offline

When updating with choirdujour, autorcm is enabled, isn't it?
I head it's because if I launch OFW the fuses will be burnt.
So the question is: what should I do when I finish playing? Just putting the Switch on its dock to leave it alwayw charging, in stand by?
And how should I link my account after updating with Choirdujour? OFW would burn fuses, and CFW could mean "ban"...
Thanks

ChoidujourNX enables autoRCM, but you can disable it any time.
Once you are done with playing, just keep the switch in sleep mode and charge it that way (sleep mode after you start charging it).
To link an account, you would need to update to 6.2.0 (I think). Anyway, do it in OFW, not in CFW. As long as you have autoRCM, fuses won't be burned.

So, going Hekate->Launch stock I can link my ninty account, play my legit cartridge and be safe at fuses? And going offline, safe from ban? (or less probable?)
Yes, but you won't be safe from bans. It is as safe as you can get on hacked console tho (unless you go with EmuNAND, which does not exists for open source CFWs yet).

Hi. I backuped Nand, but cannot launch CFW Atmosphere. My FW is 4.0.1 and my sd card exfat. I think it's because my FW doesn't support that.
How should I update it using Choidojour? Should I reformat my sd to Fat32? Should I update to 6.2? Exfat or not Exfat? How could I go back to exfat then?
Thanks
