I'm seeing that to use the SoftMii 3.0 or whatever is currently available, I can't be on official firmware 4.0. I'm planning on purchasing a Wii this coming Friday and was wondering if there is any sure-fire way to know what firmware a brand new Wii will come with? If I were to get anything less than 3.4, is there a way to upgrade to ONLY 3.4 and not the latest which i'm sure will be the only thing available through Nintendo's update?

i'm not blaming anyone really...I just want to know what happened....i've installed softmii 2 on over a dozen wii's with absolutely no problems.....the steps are always easy to follow....it looked like it was doing it's thing....but rather than saying installation complete (or whatever) it said firmware installation failed....now i've got this black screen and nothing more....all i want to know is what happened and how might i fix it...i'm trying to b as humble as possible

2.9.7 is already released??? wow haha

I bet u its gonna go all the way to 2.9.9 and then when 3.0 comes were all gonna be like whatever its just 3.0

do you got a game cube official controller you may have a chance to fix it. just look for savemiifree that can help. if you dont get any help here just pm me.

Is there a changelog for SoftMii 2.9.5 > 2.9.6 > 2.9.7 > whatever ?

Also, How the heck are people bricking themselves? This is monkey proof. At what point is it happening? Is it on a specific firmware ?

Details are grim, and SoftMii's readme's are the best (basic install, but certainly NOT for nooB's ...)

Will Pre-Loader .29 load up at all ? (not sure if that would help, but curious)

Hey guys can anyone that installed softmii answer this question please?

Quoted from the softmii install guide:

3) From Homebrew Channel, select "SoftMii Firmware Downgrader". Once you are in the program, select an System Menu version to install. The SoftMii Team suggests either System Menu 4.0 or System Menu 3.2. Then install that version, and when it is finished, reboot your Wii.

My question is : If i was already currently at Waninkoko's 4.0U menu before installing softmii do i just skip this step?

IS this step meant only for users that are currently on wii 3.4 menu's?

I had 4.0U (waninkoko's updater used) and I SKIPPED this step with no issue.

Cheers

Hi - I don't want anyone using/downloading the current version of SoftMii until it is fixed. - I would advise to wait

With regards to rev11 - This was intended as a quick fix for LU64+ users to help enable them to get homebrew working on there wii.

It was not " leaked " it did appear the notes i put in about it were not there tho, stating it as not being complete at this point a

Maybe I should have called it rev10LU64, it was an honest mistake. I am sorry.

I am going to post just an LU64 fix in a little while - ONLY FOR LU64 + USERS ( There are other serials which are unmoddable as well, from other regions - I don't know all of them, if any other people do know of them - please make a note of them as it is a BAD IDEA to downgrade these wiis as it would likely BRICK.)

@Scarface05 - I think that "SoftMii" need to start a thread, and make an OFFICIAL statement about the version 2.9.7 and what it is intended for exactly. People are getting bricked, MANY questions, and SoftMii is not at 3.0 which they did intend to be at by now. (Too Many nooB's using it)

In your best interests I think ... I would tell everyone to NOT use it at all, no matter what version your on, what Wii you have, period. Everyone needs to Chill/Wait !

You best release a Full 3.0 , with ALL fixes or the crap storm will continue

For what it is worth

It is as simple as this as of NOW - Do not use any of the DOWNLOAD LINKS until confirmed as 3.0 from either myself or digitydogs.

We are pulling things from it and putting thing back to make it easier - it would appear the bricks are coming from user error, not ours. But i do not know the full extent of this as of yet.

Please do NOT use current download links.

Another Question for you guys.

Im Getting No system hacks found for menu v417 ERROR when trying to install system hacks. is this normal?

as im already on Waninkoko's 4.0U does this step >

5) Select "System Hacks" in the Preloader menu, and enable all the hacks you would like. "Skip Disc Update" is required for proper backup loading from disc channel. Do not add or enable any region hacks as they are already in place thanks to the AnyRegion Changer hacks, enabling these twice will cause compatibility issues with games. Select "Save Settings" and wait for confirmation message to display "Settings Saved".

aslo not appy to me?

Make sure you rename the hacks.ini - to hacks.ini in the root of your SD card (I beleive it is hacks-NTSC.ini by default in the pack, or somthing similiar)

Maybe I didnt understand the question

It appears that the hacks.ini in the package i recieved was for PAL users.

Because of what you said about hacksNTSC i went and took that file from the 2.9.6 package and i now have selectable hacks menu displaying.
