So, what happened to display mods for the GBA and the GBA SP v1?

About a year ago, I looked into properly lit screens for my GBA and my GBA SP v1, but back then I couldn't afford them.
Now that I can, they aren't available anymore. What happened?

Edit: Welp, forgot the Other Handhelds subforum existed. It'd be nice if someone could move this.

Seems the screens just ran out. Where ever they were being sourced from, is no longer available.

The screen was just the same as the AGS-101 (2nd revision of the sp), and the ribbon cables are still available, so you could jusy buy a broken 101 and take the screen. For your sp, no point to mod it. Just buy an AGS-101 revision.

It should be noted that you can't just throw a 101 screen into a first generation GBA SP and expect it to magically be backlit. You also need the 101 motherboard as well unless someone can correct me.

Shame. Guess I'll just buy a regular AGS-101 and use that then. No point in paying full price for a broken one.
Thanks for the answers!

Yeah, just get the AGS 101 SP. It is more compact, it is louder, and can still play all original game boy games through the advance games. An even cheaper option is to buy a busted up SP and swap the shell out for a like new system.

Or if you're not a fan of the SP if it makes your hands hurt, get a broken 101 and shove the screen with a small mod to the plastic and a ribbon cable (with one solder point) into an original GBA. I had one until the other day when it broke. :\
