...Is kind of a dick. Basically, he treats me like I'm an idiot, like I can't handle small/large tasks by myself, like his personally donkey, etc etc. He keeps underestimating me and it's kind of pissing me off. Last night he came home about 11-11:30 and I was with a friend of mine who was staying the night. So first he starts bitching about how my room is a mess and how I shouldn't even be up at 11 because of my job (I'll rant on this later so you can understand where I'm coming from). So he leaves and everything is cool and stuff, then today about 8 he again started bitching to me about my room, and how my little brother has to have his room clean when his friends are over as if he was trying to treat me like a 12 year old, too. So I didn't say anything and just sort of went back to my room when he says "And leave your door open so I can watch you clean it", WTF? He can't trust me to clean my room? So I got to it and it's pretty good compared to how it usually is, there are a few chairs from our dining room that are in here that have to be moved out at some point in time, and my closet is a damn mess (which isn't even my fault, we had a family reunion the 6th and 7th so we were cleaning our house up a bit. Half of the things that were sitting around had to be put in my closet so it's not even my mess and I have no idea what to fucking do with it! Same with those chairs, too. We put them in here.)
The job situation, oh boy. A few months ago I was at this spaghetti dinner thing that my dad sometimes works, and he's sitting there talking to my current boss. As I'm leaving he says "Hey, Peter! Why don't you give my son a job this summer! Something for him to do!" ...fuck! At the time he said I was going to be painting offices and "other stuff" and that I'd also be washing trucks on the weekends. Ok, wasn't looking forward to it but alright. So about 4 or 5 months later my dad finally asks me about that job again and gives me Peters number. I call him up and he asks me to meet him and such and I do at his house where he gives me a list of things to do...Chores! He wanted me to pull up weeds, clean out some pits, basically a list of chores stuff. He says I can make my own hours and such which was pretty cool and all, so I basically made it from 10-3:30 with a half hour lunch break whenever I felt like it (which I personally think isn't to bad for a first job). The first day was easy, finished a few things off the list. Done and done. The next 2 days were easy as well, in fact I finished on the 3rd day! So on the 4th day I went around and checked everything to make sure it was all cool and such and it was, found a few things I missed but no big deal. I was only there for a couple hours because I had a dentist appointment so I left early. I went there the next day and...I didn't have anything to do, so I went around and checked everything again and it seemed alright so I called my boss and...no answer. You see, he's known for not answering his phone and for not calling anybody back. So I figured I'd just leave early again and call him tomorrow. I went over to his house and...again! Nothing! WTF! So I did that for a few days, gave up on going down to his house, and just plain stopped calling about 3 days later. My boss said he had a lot of work for me, so I was wondering just what the hell was going on. That was about 2 weeks ago when I stopped attempting to call him and still haven't heard anything (which is why when my dad said I had to be up to go to work it didn't make any sense). Now my dad is making me go to his office tomorrow to deliver some papers and such and to probably find out what I'm doing next but I think I'm just going to tell him that I quit, that he hasn't been keeping in touch with me and that's just something he needs to do. I told my dad that I was probably going to quit a couple days ago, but he didn't listen at all. So fuck him and I'm going to quit anyways, I've been thinking about applying at Best Buy with a friend of mine soon (quite possibly tomorrow) and see what I can do.
Which kind of brings me to my next topic, has anybody here worked/is working at Best Buy? What's it like? I heard you had to take a few personality tests or something and that its a few months for training and such but is it a good place to work? Like I know some places are pretty bad but I've researched my local Best Buy and so far no one has had any problems with it. What do you think they'd have a 16/17 year old do? (My birthday is in Sept.
) I assume maybe cash register or stockboy or something, but you never know. The biggest reason I'm interested in working at Best Buy is because I'm kind of a tech enthusiast and I feel that I could do quite a bit of good at Best Buy. Good hours? Good experience? Any advice? Also, do they make you try and recommend the more expensive options compared to the more stable? Like for instance if somebody wanted to get an Android Tablet or something for general use and I suggested getting a Nook and rooting it instead of paying $500 would I get in trouble? Any and all information is appreciated!
