Hacking So I want to dual boot wood r4 and ysmenu...

I'm only a regular user, so I don't know much...I think I'll need step-by-step directions, most likely.

So first of all, where can I get ysmenu? I've looked through all the forums and online, and all of say that I should install ysmenu then change ysmenu.ini to ysmenu.nds.sav, as per the wood save format. I've downloaded several version of symenu (6.43 and 6.49), but I can't seem to find ysmenu.ini anywhere.

What do I do? Help, please?

You're going about things all wrong.

First off, .INI files contain settings. Changing this to anything is just going to cause problems.
Second, why would you want to use YSMenu when Wood is updated so frequently?


As for where to get YSmenu: http://home.usay.jp/pc/etc/nds/
Search for "T_T" and you'll find it, latest version is "2009/03/27 00:00?EZ3in1+ NOR". Yasu does not want his files mirrored, which is why it's hard to find unless you know his site.

After that, you need to "compile" YSmenu for R4. There are a few programs to do this automatically for you, like R4YSauto.

However most YSmenu builders end up encrypting the .NDS file (which is FINE if you're running YSmenu as your primary menu, but I don't think you want to), so you need to decrypt it usually the encryption/decrption program is included in the program used to build typically called r4enc.exe/r4dec.exe, you should be able to drag/drop the _DS_MENU.DAT file onto r4dec.exe to decrypt it. Then just rename it to YSmenu.nds

Wood comes pre-built for R4s, so just copy that to your MicroSD
Then copy the YSmenu files (YSmenu.nds and a TTMenu folder).
Your card will boot Wood which will run 99.99% of all games/homebrew and if, for some reason, you run across a game that will not run you can "boot" into YSmenu through its .NDS file.

YSMenu can be updated by copying files from the RetroGameFan updates (see the DSTT section).
