So...I haven't finished the game yet, I just freed the white Heron from the fat lard, but I just wanted to check and make sure I wasn't just imagining all the comparisons I see between this game and the "Roman" time period.

Just like Begnion, Rome split up numerous times (although usually very very minor) for many different reasons, and although the split was in two (and not three such as with Begnion/Crimea/Daein), I will just equate it to the split into East and Western Rome. As well, during that time, it had been the Holy Roman Empire, such as Begnion is a Theocracy. Rome also had slaves, most of which from the "barbarian tribes" of Gaul (Gallia in both Earth and FE) and other Germanic tribes, just as the Begnions did.

Next, Gallia. Naturally, this is equated with Gaul (Gallia in Latin) and the various Germanic regions. They were often equated with beasts back in the day, and were often hairy until Alexander the Great came along and got rid of that.

Am I reading too much into it, or was it intended?
