So does that let them avoid a price increase?

我在网上看到的!

That's not a bad idea. If somebody made a custom backplate that integrates a m.2 adapter + slot, maybe even an extended battery, I'd buy it. I didn't even consider that that would be possible with SD Express. I don't have a surplus of large NVMe drives, but I'm always looking to upgrade the storage in my desktop, then when I upgrade my desktop to 4 or 8 TB my Switch 2 can get the old 2 TB. Cheaper (and way faster) than MicroSD Express cards.

Reminds me of the PSP and using small but still bulky HDDs which attached to the back.

That said, unless you have something lying around, the current cost of SSDs may not make this cost effective for 512GB.

Wait so that's all the adapter needed? A microSD Express card serving as the middleman?
I'm not sure what the MicroSD slot is for, maybe just so you can still use MicroSD without taking the adapter out (so if this was permanently installed for example, which might be the intent, then you still have the ability to use memory cards)

NVMe should just work, to the Switch it's all just PCIe anyway... Maybe I'm wrong on that, maybe NVMe isn't directly compatible with SD Express, the protocol might be different. Still don't see why making it work would require a MicroSD Express though, converting one protocol to the other should be all that's needed.

That doesn't look very convenient to use maybe when there's a 360 angled "U" shape form then it could be an option for some.

That Japanese isn't helping anyone, just sayin.
空き容量 means free space if that's what you were talking about.

But as someone else said, power draw is definitely a huge concern with this setup which could render it impractical. But I'm not OP, maybe they're getting decent battery life and we don't know.

You can definitely get power-efficient SSDs, usually at the penalty of a reduced speed and less heat. Sometimes even hanging back to an older gen like Gen 3 can benefit a portable system.

You can get power efficient ones for sure but on a system that is already extremely power efficient and already has major complaints about battery life? I don't see it going too well.

It's obviously powered externally. Could two be wired up to the same adapter with nearly identical images for an instant swap to trick the system into reading something between security checks?

I have no complaints about the batterylife, myself. I play in tabletop mode almost exclusively at work, and an hour of Splatoon 3 leaves me at 75% battery left. That's really good. My Switch 1 left me around 35%~40% on average after an hour, also in tabletop mode. So I don't know who the whiny bitches are about batterylife, but they're wrong.

Maybe people are playing fucking switch2 games?!?!?!?! please use that thing above of your neck and try to imagine what could be the reason people are playing demanding games and getting absolute ass battery life.

I could pretty much say I get over 15h of battery life playing on mgba on my switch1 so I don't know who the whiny bitches like yourself are about batterylife on the switch one, but you're wrong.

Not a bad idea, but having an M.2 adapter stick out like a sore thumb would not be comfortable in handheld mode, neither would you be able to fit the console into the dock with that extra clearance needed. A good prototype for a start, don't get me wrong, but I should say that there should be a way to attach the adapter to the back-side of the system so that nothing blocks what's underneath.

This would be a great feature for an unofficial dock. The aforementioned power draw issues would be a non-issue, obviously. It would be completely unusable for portable play, but would beat making the S2 significantly bulkier, I guess.

For that matter, having this be adapted into a case for portable play, I'd imagine it would have to tap S2's power through the USB-C port... which is less than ideal.

I don't know what you're smoking, but Splatoon 3 is a VERY demanding Switch 1 game, and has a Switch 2 update patch to take advantage of the extra hardware. (And it's beautiful and very fluid as a result!)

Power drain is still not nearly as close as actual switch2 game, you can try purchasing one and see for yourself!!!!! maybe pokopia or even botw (yeah that switch1 game drains like crazy with the upgrade patch)

I have the Switch 2 version of Legends Z-A, and it's still fine.
