I have been long gone in the forums and I'm just wondering if this is now 'the' SNES emu for the DS?

For slot-1 users, at the very least, it is. I just hope that the progress on it stays this rapid ... the leaps in ROM playability are incredible, but it still needs a lot of work to get it up to par.

From my experience with this release I can say that this one is more buggy than the last beta release. When I change from no sound to sound, it just freezes. DKC 1 has that black thing over the screen. Some levels in DKC games can`t be played normaly..they are too slow, using any combination of options. I am looking forward to future improvements.

Games Tested on R4DS:
Super Mario All-Stars (U).swc - PLAYABLE, many graphical glitches, none ALL too major
Super Metroid (JU) [!].swc - PLAYABLE, many graphical glitches, you can clean up some by turning off BG3.
Super Mario RPG (U).swc - Does not boot (No duh, it has the legendary SA-1 chip, boosting the original SNES to like 11Mhz or something)
Kirby Superstar (U) [!].swc - Does not boot (dunno why)
Chrono Trigger - PLAYABLE - Minor graphical glitches
Donkey Kong Country (V1.1) (U).swc - Somewhat playable (I played it for 5 minutes, it got past certain parts, i kept playing with the settings, and it randomly crashed.
Super Mario World (U)[!].swc - PERFECT, stopped playing after 2 minutes, got frustrated at my DS because i broke the buttons
Star Fox (V1.2) (U) [!].swc - PLAYABLE,if you are blind and play video games by sound. I had a white screen on top, and nice, beautiful sound.

Can anyone give me an idea why Kirby Superstar doesn't boot? Is it because its not a perfect emu, or beccause of the all powerful chip?

I think that classifying ANY ROM on Snemul as "perfect" is entirely too generous, at the moment. Don't get me wrong, the emulator is making excellent progress ... but a high degree of playability, or a status of being "almost there" on any rom doesn't translate to perfection. "Perfect" means just that ... perfect. In a "perfect" emulation, I shouldn't be able to detect a difference with actual cartridge play on the console, or at the very least, it should be hard for me to pick out.

There are, however, varying degrees of playability, and Super Mario World is up there on top. It's still VERY easy to see that you're playing it on an incomplete, emulator, however ... imperfect layering, stuttering sound, glitchy dragon coins are all examples.

i have g6 lite and from what i've been reading here and on the homepage site of the emu others are having issues with it getting to work..

has anyone with a g6 been able to get the emu to work? just wondering. i got it to boot the emu, i think, but it's telling me that i don't have snes roms in the directory.

just to try out of curiosity i created a SNES directory in the root directory and made duplicates in NDS folder and GBA folder (WITH ROMS IN THEM lol) and then i put the roms outside the SNES folder inside all the previous stated places. so i had about 6 of each rom on my card... still not detected, so i know i'm not doing something wrong. OR AM I?!

just eager to start playing Street Fighter 2 on my ds, that's all

Did you apply the DLDI patch?

totally. i use the g6 prog that i got from the site. update it when a new one's released. i patch all my ds games and gba games.

if i wanna save my games i gotta patch 'em, but what i do with those isn't what's important now... it's all about the snes emu

GBA software doesn't support DLDI at all, so applying a DLDI patch to any .GBA file would be pointless.

It sounds like you're talking about patching roms with the u-disk manager, which has nothing to do with DLDI at all.

Oh, I see. At first I thought he was saying that he was patching all of his ROMs with DLDI, which would have done nothing.

Divine, you're just confused about what DLDI is, methinks. It's a completely separate entity from the soft/firmware update that is occasionally put out for your G6.

Does this new version let yuo manage layer priorities MANUALLY? I'm hoping it's not just from a select few different priorities, with an added option of turning off one or more of the layers. Because until that's possible, you can't emulate as well as snezzids (still the best for slot 2).

Great work on the updates, but I can't check any of the questions I asked because I may not be able to play on my DS for a long time.

yeah... the U-disk is what i was talking about. and i AM confused about the DLDI. when i first read the topic i clicked the link to the DLDI page and it had the g6 site on there so i thought it was the same thing. wow, i feel really stupid now. perhaps this'll get it to work.

This is awesome. I can finally play the Zelda: Parallel Worlds hack on the DS now. Working great. Cheers to some great progress on the development.
