What's the best slot 2 card out right now? (GBA sized, and Lite sized.)

Are they compatible with the TTDS, AK2i?

Where should I buy them?

Do need a separate SD card?

Do all games work with them? (Mainly the Golden Sun games.)

i would also like to add to that.

compatible with cycloDS?

ive looked at the EZ 3-in-1 and i couldn't tell if it needed a sd card if not how do you transfer gba games?

will EZ 3-in-1 last ages like a flashcard? (remember reading ages ago about battery or something)

is 256Mbit enough for a big library of games?

thats all for now

(sorry for adding to your questions dangy hopefully youll find it informative as well)

EZ3in1 uses the Slot-1 to fire a ROM (and/or save) into the cartridge. Naturally, it is usually only used for a single ROM at a time, considering that you can fire a new ROM in at any time. You don't need any other SD card. It is compatible with most flashcarts, if not all, and because it uses the GBA hardware, all games should work. You just may have to use a homebrew app to do it.

thanks for the answers, just a few more queries

so you don't load gba games onto the EZ at all?
it just loads them from the slot 1 flashcard?

do you have to "download" a gba rom into the EZ to play a new game?
so i can't just open a folder and pick a game and play i have to wait while it sets it all up? (more than just loads it up)

For the AceKard 2.1, the firmware will load the game from slot-1 into the 3in1 in slot 2. Once you have done a hard reset of the DS, the firmware will then copy your save back to the cart. There are separate programs that will let you "permanently" burn the GBA game to the 3in1, but then you will need to manually rip your GBA save back from the 3in1.

Yes, you will have to wait for the firmware/program to load up the GBA game before you can play it.

The NDS application that I am talking about is the GBA Exploder.

still don't understand.
basic question - does the EZ function the same way as a R4, Acekard etc?. ie. list of roms pick one and go.

Sort of. Think about the relationship between the computer and the memory card. You have to copy the files from the computer to the memory card before you can play games on the DS. Same same for the flash cart and the 3in1.

i don't see how that is different from the acekard etc.

sounds like you load a bunch of roms onto the EZ then your good to go?

NO! If you've read the other posts (including mine) you will see that you typically load the GBA rom onto the Slot-1 card. The slot-1 card handles sending the GBA rom to the 3in1. You'll have to wait a bit since the 3in1 has slow writing speeds. Once the GBA rom has been written, typically the DS will "restart" in GBA mode and you will play your game. Once you have turned off your DS, your slot-1 card should copy the save back over to the slot-1 card. Typically the slot-1 will write the game to the "non-saveable" memory.

YMMV. Go read the reviews of your card and the 3in1.
