Game play by far. I don't play Zelda for the story; haveing a good story in a Zelda game is like having ice cream with your cake, its even better with it, but it's still great without. Looking at each Zelda game individually, the story is usually really shallow, and basically one giant fetch quest when you get right down to it, but put together they form an amazingly complex and deep storyline, and that is what I am excited about storyline wise with SS, how it ties in with all the other games. However, right now I just want to play it, all the story analysis stuff comes after I have beaten it a couple times.

I would say it's gameplay and the strong universe Nintendo have built. When you are playing a Zelda game everything from the NPCs to enemies, to towns and forests just feel like Zelda. I get the feeling in Pokemon, Mario, Animal Crossing and a few other games too. Also Zelda, like many of the other franchises was a big part of my childhood, so being able to relive that a little bit whenever a new Zelda game is released is a special occasion for me, and one I enjoy with my little sister who used to watch me play them too. In a way Zelda is a big part of our lives, even if it sounds stupid.

Well, I'm going to bed. Hopefully there will be a leak tomorrow when I wake up, but I sort of doubt it.

I have Windows XP. I just want to know what I need my Wii to be at in order to flawlessly run a retail copy of Zelda Skyward Sword on CFG USB Loader. The USA version of course.

The other thread was getting really aggressive and nasty. Wind waker was one of my favorites, except every time I try to replay it, I get frustrated with all the sailing around. Based on that new video, it looks like that won't be as much of a problem in skyward sword.

Yeah I actually played through Wind Waker again this summer with a friend. It was an excellent game except for the extremely slow boat... Thank god for Skyloft birds that's all I can say.

Lol! Never heard of the ballad of gale?

Assuming there's nothing unusual about SS - probably all you'd need is a d2x CIOS based on 56 or 58

im starting to think this'll either leak a week early at the earliest, or 2 days early. nothing in between. dont ask me why i pulled ito ut of my ***, just a feeling im having lol. i can live with a week early though.

What's more important in a Zelda game? Story or game play
IMO gameplay might even be the bigger part. Why? Because it's not difficult to put together a good Zelda story, hence they're not that different from each other/complicated. I mean, even if it's Ganondorf for the 500th time, we'd still love to beat the crap out of him :D
Gameplay however is quite important, and that's the thing that killed Spirit Tracks for me for instance. Or take Twilight Princess. The story was alright, the world was vast, but the elements just didn't work for me (still great game, but it didn't feel special). Kakariko was just a dead Western village.... I mean, seriously? XD Or even worse, the even deader Shiekah (Western) village D: Also that whole becoming a wolf thingy or that there were so many people in Hyrule that didn't even speak 1 random blah blah sentence... I could go on endlessly and as you may notice, it's mostly the details. But those are, what makes a game feel like Zelda in the end ;)

So yeah, I'd go for gameplay IN RELATION and I surely hope Nintendo won't screw it up in the next game. The birds and bugs look like they put some effort into nice details again. On the other hand the missing classical Field area makes me worry a little bit - ah well, I'll know soon, won't I :)

When it comes to Zelda, gameplay is the main thing because as was previously mentioned most Zelda stories follow the same basic format =P Although SS looks like it might have a more in depth story than other Zelda games =D

So I'm glad to know I wasn't the only person who wasn't a fan of the DS Zelda games... they were ok but nothing special =/

They gave up on the overall story a long time ago. Fans created theories like the Split-Timeline theory to make sense of it all, and Nintendo eventually jumped on that saying that was the plan from the beginning, but the theories still don't make sense. A few months ago I disproved the split timeline theory in one of the Zelda threads (it's a weak theory, anybody could do so by thinking about it). It just pisses me off that Nintendo tried to cover up their sloppiness like that.

The story gets better if you try not to put them in a serious timeline imo :P
I love the story of all zelda games individually, but trying to put them together gets a bit confusing (except OoT -> MM, which is quite obvious)

Yeah same I never focus too much on how they connect together, other than the direct sequels like MM and so forth =)

According to Aonuma (in a recent thing by GT.TV), he has stated that all of the Zelda games stories are linked together somehow. Also, I have been avoiding spoilers for Skyward Sword, but apparently that links a couple of the games together (Besides SS and OoT)

What Aonuma had confirmed so far is (slight spoiler if you don't know SS's placement yet): SS-OOT >> split Child side : TP Adult side : TWW-PH-ST . Also confirmed are TMC-FS-FSA, LoZ-AoL and ALTTP-LA . How they all connect is unknow.
