Hacking Sky3DS Diskwriter Mac Help?

I don't understand what else you want. To run a windows program you need windows. Period. There is no magic button that will make a exe run on your mac. Install windows via bootcamp (grab the windows 10 tech preview if you want something free, albeit not 100% stable), use parallels/crossover/vmware fusion, or borrow a friends computer. Those are your options. Bumping the thread repeatedly will not change this fact.

I just wanted to see my other options before going through such a long process. I guess I'll just give it a try.

DragonFireXY, I don't think many Sky3DS's have even made it this far west yet... you may have to wait a while for the rest of us to catch up. I have a Mac, but I have Windows 8 installed on my bootcamp partition.

However, can anyone confirm that Windows 8 works with Sky3DS's disc writer program?

I usually go the Bootcamp route with things like these. It's a bit time consuming, but you've been bumping this thread for days now, you would have already been done and using the diskwriter if you took some time and installed something like Bootcamp.

Ditto. Bootcamp WinXP or 7.

If you install Vmware too, you can access your bootcamp partition as a VM from OSX, which is nice.

You can make some windows apps run with a wine wrapper or crossover or such wine-based things.
Figure it out via google, or I'll do it for you if you buy me a sky3ds.

Yah I don't think I have another $90 to spend. I've tried all the things you mentioned anyway.

Crossover for mac worked great (even if slow) for me when using my g6 lite software years ago so it should be ok with the disk writer.
You have so many options including native windows over bootcamp.
Have you even tried all the alternatives ppl say to you? Really...

I'm having this problem as well. I have been using a Windows partition (bootcamp) and it sucks. It finally stopped working for me and even with antivirus software there's adds and viruses everywhere. There has to be some solution for Mac users. Just wish it was advertised Windows only.

just use Virtual Box and set up a windows virtual machine...

when it coms to getting your usb to work on the Virtual environment, there will be a setting/tickbox/button saying enable use on virtual PC.

its not difficult, im getting my Mac soon so ill see if I can do a simple step by step guide on doing it for those who don't want to use the above Mac/Linux tool.

You know if you did a search, there's diskwriter python clone for Linux/Mac out?
(You need a little bit of knowledge of your mac etc...)

I swear ive done hours of searching to figure this out. this just hasnt come across my google search. but then again this was posted fairly recently and my research was a couple months ago. this is great though!

Had the same problem.
DiskWriter under Parallels+Win8 cannot see the Micro SD if it is inserted as an SD card via the SD slot.
However it can detect the Micro SD inserted with a thumb drive via USB slot.
Hope this helps.

I've been thinking about getting a Sky3DS and have a Macbook Pro.
Glad I saw this thread first.

I e-mailed them to ask if they were working on a Mac version of their DiskWriter software and they responded within a few hours with this:

Sorry we are still working on the version of Mac.

I had the same problem.

Easily solved by asking everyone i knew if they had a knackered, old laptop i could have. I now use that only for SKY3DS work.

Yes it can, mine works perfectly.
