Have you been able to successfully downgrade your 3DS/2DS?

Wait and you should see some confirmations starting to go down your screen like ___.cia installed (kinda forgot what it says exactly), by the time you get this, you should see something.
The 3ds will start reading the cias and then you will see the name of the cias and a green text saying installed by the right side.

I downgraded to 9.2, and now I can't install browserhax.

Does that mean I'm bricked?
Lol heck no! If you're bricked you'd see a black screen. What have you tried to do? Have you downloaded the payload from Smea's site? It's not needed (I was able to get into browserhax without it), but it might help.

I first installed homebrew through Browserhax today.

Should I format my SD and then start the process fresh?

in what piece of hardware is the 3DS NAND stored in?

i have some old 3DS parts that aren't in use now, so if i hardbrick i could replace the part the NAND is in and i could get my 3DS working again right?

i would feel a lot more safer if i can confirm this

someone please' i need answers

Up to you. I did just to keep everything organized. Plus it starts you out fresh so you have what you need on your sd and nothing of what you don't which saves you room for .cia files.

Same here, first installed on 10.2 using Browserhax, when i got to the 9.0.0, it didn't work, i couldn't even get to the recovery menu or the settings menu, but I tried a least 12 times(clicking that slider thingy) and I could install menuhax through Browserhax again, finally

Be sure to format your SD, put the necessary stuff, and then enter the Theme Settings, this will create a necessary file to install menuhax

This is getting ridiculous and I'm in despair.
So, after trying twice with Julian's safe SysUpdater and gotten twice a semi-brick (And restored via recovery). I got frustrated and decided to try TuxSH one (on OP's message). But I got a semi-brick again

I used 9.20U, checked the checksum stuff (the number thingie) Menuhax2.1 on Smea2.5 o3ds 10.3U. What did I do wrong? I am confused and slighly pissed lol. Thanks guys for the replies

Edit: As said before, I've tried removing the SD card and then powering-on, but it doesn't matter, I still get the error black screen. Recovery mode is untouched, though.

How many .cia files do you have?

format your 3DS and your SD card, try again

everyone else who had that problem fixed it that way, i, too, have that problem. But i can't get to update because my goddamn internet doesn't work for shit and i've been trying soince 4 hous and half and the download just cancels itself-___.

Step by step:

  1. Formatted the SD card
  2. Dropped the starter kit(root dir) and sysupdater(3ds dir) on it.
  3. dropped 9.2 into the updates folder in the root directory.
  4. Popped it into the 2ds and let it create its default files
  5. Opened the theme config to create those files as well
  6. Opened the camera and scanned the Browserhax QR code.
  7. Installed menuhax
  8. Rebooted with L back to the homebrew launcher
  9. Ran Sysupdater.

Just thought I'd report that I carefully did the above steps with a 10.3U O3DS using the Julian20 SysUpdater linked to on page 95 of this thread, and downgraded to 9.2 successfully on the first try. Yay!

No. It would be one of those Black IC chips. Those usually have 40+ pins on them, finely soldered directly to the motherboard. With specific equipment and experience you could remove it and replace it. However your NAND contains the operating system basically which has fingerprint equivalents. Those match only that system.
With my experience with some xbox360 mods, if you did the hardmod first, and dumped it and had a clean nand of that machine, you could potentially remove the nand and then solder on another.
Hell with some work you could add a second nand chip and put a switch to toggle between them. Thats exactly what I did for my 360. so one was retail side, one was modded.
