Sigpatch updated needed regularly?

Dumped my copy of Ys X: Nordics and am having trouble installing. The game runs find off the cart, and the dump itself goes well, after installing though via DBI the game's icon is white and it will not run. I knew sigpatch updates were at least needed for firmware updates, but I've never had to update them in-between. Is this something everyone else does regularly and I've just lucked out never encountering an issue until now? Or is something else going on? Switch is on 18.1

The game's icon should display correctly regardless of whether sigpatches are installed. It sounds to me like a gliotch in DBI. What version are you using?

Sigpatches are only needed after a firmware update indeed.

The only occasion I know of getting a white icon is when you install only the update instead of the base game.
In the OFW you can't do that but with tinfoil/dbi/goldleaf you can actually only install an update.

Thanks all, I was able to resolve this, I can't remember now as to how but think by using a different tool such as Tinfoil to install.
