*she *her this was already discussed earlier but removed since it was totally offtopic, thanks for telling :)
Let's end this gender argument once and for all, "they," BOOM! There, simple enough
This was already brought up once before and brought up that they are gender fluid. They most prefer female pronounces. This isn't the time nor place to debate this topic.

Alright, mod here. Please don't debate the author's gender. For unknown, fluid or "other", just use "they". It's not the end of the world if you don't know and mislabel anyone online, but please don't make a political point out of it. This is not the place for that.

Carry on.

Did Aurora get prot_boot9.bin? How does the luma7 sighax stuff work?
Talking to her about this, apparently they know enough about how it functions to make a bootable option for when it's made.
Now going off the release notes
  • Added unverified New3DS SigHax support (it should work fine, though).
So it's more theoretical then it is confirmed fact. But it's a strong enough theory, that it should work.

Exactly. Same thing with the SafeSigHaxInstaller, it's possible to have that already since we know how to install things with A9LH.

so what exactly does this mean for the end user?

i'm guessing here but.....the user can dump their nand via hardmod or software, hack in the sighax'd FIRM (or bootrom?), and it will boot luma3ds?

that would be noice.

it just means if/when sighax is released luma should be ready to go right off the bat

iirc sighax should make it possible to have custom home menus if we want to use it for that, so it definitely means alot to me as a end user since I would love to be able to have folders in folders or even have a remake of the wii menu using the thumbstick to move the cursor

Sighax means nothing more than a9lh already has the capability of doing except a few very mostly insignificant things such as keeping the otp unlocked so it can be dumped on any FW, custom home menus etc are possible with a9lh, simply put, nobody capable of making one can be bothered, so don't expect one to just appear because sighax is released

This has been stated several times now, but I guess people will continue thinking sighax = all your dreams come true

Well in theory it may allow bricked devices to live again, if the bootloader can be injected and modified in a nand dump. Also it may prevent devices from unrecoverable bricks.

brick recovery is my cream dream for sighax...according to smea you can take a stock 3ds, dump the nand, hack it, flash it back and its good to go...as far as what you can modify in the nand dump is beyond me. i asked via twitter about the stock -> dump -> hacked and he replied with a simple "yes"

can we decrypt the nand, modify it and then reflash it back? if so, then that is the dream of sighax and what i thought is the potential of it.

I think it is possible to do that now, but you need to have the xorpads for that 3ds' nand. Mostly the firm0 and firm1 xorpads.

I guess it depends how it was bricked?

I was just going off that I heard it's currently not possible to make it so you can put folders in folders on the home menu with a9lh, I suppose I may have misinformed, I've never been able to find much info on the folders in folders and a uncaping of save backups(nintendo's official save backups) and no I would rather not screw around with some homebrew backup that doesn't always work
