Well it seems like sighax will probably be n3ds exclusive at this point. That means the n3ds will be the master race kind of since o3ds users won't have to upgrade until it gets confirmed support.

bootroms should be the same for both, actually, so maybe once they release it, we'll have sighax...

plus, the screenshot is of the sighax installer running on an o3ds.

Bootroms across o3DS/2DS/n3DS are the same. I heard 2DS/n3DS might have something different but not sure. But the perticular flaw sighax takes advantage of applies to all revisions of the 3DS including 2DS and n3DS consoles. Sighax will NOT be console specific.

Nah it's a bootrom vuln and it's the same for any 3ds. And what crystal said.

Okay wait hold on

This derek guy, from the twitter screenshot, does he actually have the bootrom?

I can't find any evidence of it from the past pots on that twitter page, and he couldn't have gotten them from hedgeberg because she doesn't have them yet, so what's the deal? Just testing software frameworks?

Derrek already has the bootrom, he's the only one to have dumped it.

SigHax has the huge potential to opening the door to many new things that were not possible with A9LH. This will mean, software can eventually be written to decrypt 3DS ROMs directly on PC hardware, without the need of 3DS hardware. Custom operating systems can be installed on the 3DS. And also, Citra emulator may also at some stage add the ability to run encrypted ROMs as well, after SigHax becomes usable with the bootrom.

There will be so much that we will be able to do. This will be really exciting, and I honestly am looking forward to the bootrom being dumped and then the software written for anyone to dump their bootroms as well.

Then afterwards, I'll be looking forward to seeing reverse engineering the Nintendo Switch hardware.

oh so he's THAT derrek. is there a reason he hasn't shared the bootroms? or is he waiting for better stability/support?
Uhh....It's HIGHLY illegal, also hedge has said Greg's bootrom will not be released, just the documentation on how to dump it. After that, someone's probably going to make a torrent for it.

ah, that makes much more sense. I had no idea whether this was actually legal or not, but eh, better late than never.
B-b-but the 3DS firmware is already so stable

Or perhaps that is how hedge plans to release the bootrom while maintaining plausible deniability. Release the full documentation and source code necessary to dump it, wait a while, then covertly leak said bootrom using a VPN and TOR and who knows what else.

that is if hedge leaks it at all, though. once the documentation/source code is out, anyone will pretty much be able to dump it themselves, and somebody else might share their bootrom instead.

Well even if he does intend to leak it he couldn't just come out and say so because if he did, or if he leaked it too soon after releasing the documentation/code then Ninty would be able to prove it was either him or derek regardless of what measures he used to hide the leaker's identity. Either way he pretty much has to say what he is saying now and if he does leak it anonymously he will have to wait until enough time has passed that other people could have dumped their bootroms and leaked it instead.

Even with detailed instructions, good luck with that. You need to cause a hardware glitch.

I'm more saying that it's possible more than I am saying it's practical. I'm probably going to find a pre-dumped version like most other people as well, probably, since I don't really have the means to dump it myself.
