I see. But I remember of old (like medieval-kind of old) baby toys that were partially made of silvers, that they could chew when their teeth were growing. They were made of silver because of that property to render bacterias unable to reproduce on it.

Idk what year you are referencing, but I don't think mining was ever in top 3 by a state or country basis

Well, I just remember seeing that in historic tv show about life in the north of Canada back in late 1800's (back in Canada's Dominion)
During spring and summer, the main income sources were from farming (agriculture and breeding), while during winters, it was mostly from woodcutting. Mining was also a "quick cashgrab" for some families, where the wages were higher (but was also more risky).
