I take it that 5.5.1 is the latest fw then? Thought I had to do a disc based (Color Splash) update.

One thing it could use is GAME PAD SUPPORT IN VWII maybe even game cube controls.
Another minor thing that could be fixed is the WEB BROWSER CAUSE IT IS AWFUL.
Maybe even as a joke, the 3DS to control the wii. I dunno how they did it with super smash bros and the smash controller, but it worked okay. Is pretty amazing. I wish homebrew that let wiiu be controlled by 3DS like smash bros did.

• 1 Wii u game pad.
• 1 Wii u pro controller.
• 2 Wii motes (Option for nunchuk or classic controller
• and 4 3DS with smash controller.

All can play 8 player smash.

Another serious thing that should be fixed is USING SD CARD IN WII U MODE. I know HDD are probably more common and recommended but SD cards should least be useful to wii u outside of smash bros snapshots.

Came here to find out whether BotW will require a new firmware or not. I'm still running at 5.3.2 and too afraid to update further. Had more than a few scares of Loadiine GX2 not working all of a sudden. I got the Wii U solely for my kids to enjoy BotW. I want to 'Day 1' it, but I may have to sit back and see what all happens for said hacked Wii U's.

Dude, update to the latest firmware. That is recommended.

It's too late to do anything now for the WiiU. WiiU's pretty much dead, yeah, Zelda BotW is still coming to the WiiU but that's about it -- It's on life-support.

BoTW will be the last Wii U game i'm betting. It's a long shot of a system update even coming out
