So a normal android charger (from samsung s4/s5 rather than s8/s9 timeframe) should charge the switch, as in it should make it show the charging indicator next to the battery meter? Trying to work out if its the cable rather than the wall charger.

Currently I get no indication its charging from a powerbank or 2 usb chargers.
If you turn the Switch off and plug in the charger does it show the charging indicator?
Might just be that it's not drawing the full 2.1A, so it's not able to actually charge while powered on.

Some chargers won't provide more than 500mA, because there was no real standard for fast charging until USB-PD showed up, and although fast charging with powerbanks and unofficial generic 2A+ wall chargers does usually work, that's only because they try to support as many different standards as possible, while the Switch won't support every standard. According to tests I saw using different wall adapters, most would provide up to 2A but some did only provide 500mA.

The way USB wall chargers used to fast charge was that they would sense the data pins (which aren't used on a charger, obviously), often that means sensing the resistance across the data pins, or it could be just sensing a short across the data pins, and based on that would either supply 500mA or supply up to the full amperage they can handle. These days it's more complicated and relies on actual communication between the charger and the device, this is also the way USB-PD works, but for older chargers that's not a thing.

I do have a USB power meter, but sadly, I don't have my Galaxy Note 3 charger to test with, I sold my Note 3 a while back. I believe that's the same charger used in the S4. I can't say I've ever really used it to fast charge other things, I only charged things that would only take 500mA anyway. But said USB power meters are only a few bucks on AliExpress. Usually they're called USB meters or USB testers, and they will show how much power is drawn.

Wasn’t this confirmed to be BS? Also, only a matter of time until it will be supported by SX PRO

You do understand that this post is basically echoing what garyopa said a while back but in more precise detail? Unless you're telling me you don't believe gary.

You're either lucky or very brave. Most, if not ALL third party chargers/docks have the potential to eventually fry your system. But that is an issue with the Switch itself. I W
was watching a video on the subject the other day and the reason why this happens is because the Switch asks for a certain voltage from the dock/charger but actually takes a much higher voltage than it needs. It's like the Switch is talking it's own language and only the official gear can understand it
That's straight up bullshit. BigBen is licensed by Nintendo and have been selling accessories for Nintendo products for over a decade. The quality is pretty good for the price, it surely isn't going to harm your switch.

There were reports of SOME BB docks harming Switch consoles when they first came out. But that was when they FIRST came out

Coldboot possibility is for folks on 3.0.1 or under.
Deja Vu (warmboot) doesn't work after 5.0.0.

What would be the advantage in using Deja Vu (warmboot) over Fusee gelee if i don't mind buying a pin? I'm asking because i'm on 3.0.2 but i wanted to update now to try Splatoon 2 online, because i have original, before even modding my switch at all.
I don't think there would be any advantage.

With a warm boot you can reboot the console from cfw into cfw without having to send a payload. Cold boot you can turn off the system and still boot up cfw untethered.

That doesn't sound like a big difference.
With warm boot you can reboot directly into CFW, but not if you turn off the console?
Is that what you meant?

I meanly care about "EmuNAND" anyway, so i can go online with original games, and boot into CFW when i want. I hope the current FW version doesn't matter for that.

Yes warmboot, you can't take over the bootloader I believe, so there needs to be some other means of initially starting the cfw.
Coldboot is full bootloader molestation, enabling the booting of anything.

That's way better than warmboot, especially if you don't mind using a jig, which seems extremely simple. Triggering exploits from software all the times is a bit annoying. I will update to 5.x just to try Splatoon, let's see how it goes then.

((Coldboot > Warmboot) = untethered) > fusee gelee
