Hacking short-circuited Wode?

I bought a wode a couple of weeks ago and followed OzModChip's guide, when i was gonna test it after the install it short-circuited.

I bought a new new Wii now, and I'm wondering if it's safe to try out the Wode again? The smoke only came out from around the power button and i couldn't smell anything burned from the wode itself.


PS.
I know it's my fault that the Wii broke not trying to blame Oz or anyone else. I just want advice if it's safe or not to try the Wode again if i install it 100% right.

Was it an install issue or a bad WODE?

If it isn't obvious what failed and why (i.e. two wires touching each other where they shouldn't in the wii), the WODE could be defective. I'd replace it as well before trying to put one in the new wii.

Last thing you want to do is brick the new wii...

Install issue, I hit something i shouldn't when i was gonna turn on the Wii without the "case" on. So all the parts of the Wii was just laying on the floor...

Also, what if the Wode had some sparks or something in it, what is the worst that can happend to the Wii if i install it perfect?

EDIT: i know, iknow. no double posts, but i just wanted a bump...
