I'm using a 3rd party component cable with my xbox. With it hooked up to my samsung hd crt tv the picture looks fine. When hooked up to the component inputs on my gateway lp2207 monitor I get some noise lines and a bit of fuzzyness but otherwise it still looks ok.

When I hook it up to an led tv, in addition to the expected video quality issues I also get these bands of constantly shifting color across the top and bottom edges of the screen. If I use a composite cable with this tv it's a little fuzzy, but I don't get any noise lines or the shifting color bars.

Is the problem with the colors because of the component cables I'm using or is there something wrong with the video out on my xbox?

Will the Pound hdmi cable give me a better image?

The info on the Pound hdmi cable says it doesn't do any sort of video conversion and only passes the original signals through to the hdmi port. That's why I need to know if video issues are caused by the component cable or the xbox itself. I'd rather not buy a new cable if it's just going to end up looking the same

Could also be the component cable.
It's unlikely the 360 is the cause.

Edit: I'm dumb, original xbox is finicky when it comes to component cables.
Either official ones or really good third party ones can only delivery a good quality.

The Xbox HDMI adapter seems to work fine, no experience in yet.

Edit 2: Temp should change the icon of the original Xbox board to a green X instead of a sphere..
Confusing as fuck.

Eh, just figured out what was wrong. Even though the UnleashX settings showed the hd video modes as being turned on, the xbox was only putting out 480i through the component cable. Had to use the enigmah launcher from the Hexen tools to boot into the ms dash and turn on the hd video options. Still have a little noise from the cheap cable, but the image is much clearer now and the random color shifting is gone.

Unleash settings page is pretty bad. You can add the stock dash as an app so you can easily go in there to change video settings and manage music and memory cards.
