Hacking Setting up the x360usb pro?

Hey guys i bought a pre flashed 0800 xbox drive and a x360 USB pro v1.
Now i have the sata cable from the drive to the x360 then to the usb port which is correct?
And then just powered by the drive dongle where you click the button to open up the disk tray ect.
My question is where do i go from here?

You'll have to download XBC (Xbox Backup Creator)
As well as installing the X360 USB drivers.

Ive installed the x360 USB drivers.
I have downloaded XBC
I have my cki dongle with one green and one red light which is correct?
I have inserted disk into drive but nothing appears yet?
Im struggling a little bit as the tuts are all over the place.

Maybe go into device manager and click scan or refresh, whatever it is

That's what I do. And after refreshing I eject tray, then close tray, then a disc icon should come up where you're mouse pointer is. Then I open xbc and it shows the drive

The drive that i bought that had 0800 preinstalled was a VAD6038 just for some more info.

EDIT - Do I need to update the firmware of the x360 usb pro v1?

Any help please?
Cauld you start from the start with everything I gotta do.
But so far this is what I have
Drive preflashed with 0800
Installed x360 usb drivers
Downloaded xbox backup creator

I cannot get xbc to recognised my drive, also when it says insert x360 usbusb pro and make sure switch is in the off position when i do that i cant update the drivers? it has to be in the on position?
Cauld have faulty hardware somewhere here? Is there anyway i can check if my drive has been definately flashed with the latest 0800 firmware? It was bought from a reputable australia online store
