So I got a Wii for Xmas and I want to so badly mod it so I can put homebrew on it.

Only thing is the 32GB sd card I received keeps saying its write protected even though the switch on it is switched up so its unlocked!!!!

So I got another SD card this time 8GB just a few minutes ago, and its giving me the same treatment, this SD card is a micro sd card with an adapter.

I tried doing the whole command prompt diskpart thing to no success, I tried doing the regedit thing but that kept giving me errors, I just dont know what else to do :/

At this point I am convinced the SD card reader built into my computer may be the problem, if thats the case how can I fix this?

diskpart

Microsoft DiskPart version 10.0.16299.15

Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation.
On computer: FIREPLACE

DISKPART> list disk

Disk ### Status Size Free Dyn Gpt
-------- ------------- ------- ------- --- ---
Disk 0 Online 465 GB 0 B *
Disk 1 Online 7580 MB 3072 KB

DISKPART> select disk 1

Disk 1 is now the selected disk.
DISK - Manipulate disk attributes.

DISKPART> attributes clear readonly

Microsoft DiskPart version 10.0.16299.15

VOLUME - Manipulate volume attributes.

DISKPART> attributes disk clear readonly

Disk attributes cleared successfully.

DISKPART> clean

DiskPart has encountered an error: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.
See the System Event Log for more information.

Theres no storagedevicepolicies in regedit so tutorials said to make a new folder and rename it as such and so on, but I get an error doing that as well...

that can't be the case, it moves up and down perfectly fine, if it was stuck I'm pretty sure I would have added that to the thread.
I am talking about inside the card reader, not the card itself. No shit you can move the switch on the card, but the switch that actually detects the position of the switch.

See, the switch on the SD card actually does not do a damn thing. It is the card reader that detects the position of that switch and decides if it is write protected or nto. Just like on the old 3.5" floppy disks.

Try to get a 2GB/4GB SD card (hard to find one nowadays), as those with more capacity can cause issues on the Wii when first hacking it. Test the SD/microSD card with H2TestW software for R/W errors before using it.

I've used a 2GB microSD card back then and didn't had any problem.

One more thing, when using an adapter with your microSD card, use some transparent adhesive tape on the physical switch of it so it can't move when inserting it on the Wii. I had that issue some times.

I am starting to see that you are not mechanically inclined, so the best bet for you is to use a different card reader.
I tried that and it still will not work. My computer itself is one that has a built in reader as well, if you know a way to make the switch inside unstuck please let me know :).
