Hacking Saving Question

I know that the DS has it's normal saves, but how does the Acekard 2i use its own kind of saving? Are they freeze saves? Quick saves? Auto-saves? Please nxplain and thank you.

Flashcarts create a file for each game on the MicroSD, each of which contains the same data the game stores to the retail cart when saving.
