Hacking Save file sizes

You know how the recent slot 2 supercard patcher versions create 512KB save files for most games, right? Does anyone know whether trimming them to the size a specific game normally uses works fine? If so, is there an easy way to do it?

I know saves created by the older patchers still work when played. But that's not what I'm asking.

yeah you can use the right size save with the supercard range
heres a bundle of blank saves i use with all the current sizes in

4kb.sav
64kb.sav
512kb.sav
2mb.sav
4mb.sav
64mb.sav

OK. No problem. Now all I need is a database listing the size each game uses, and a tool to trim existing saves.
