Hacking Save file problem

I kinda feel like an idiot after asking this (due to my problem being with Ring of Fates, i searched for a while but didn't find a solution to my issue). but for some reason, my M3 Real isn't recognizing the save file. i was talking to my friend and he had the same problem with a final fantasy game, but he solved it by changing the save file size. im unsure if my save file's size (512kb) has anything to do with this.

did you make sure both the rom and the save file are named exactly the same?

Yeah. both are named "Ring Of Fates" with the game being .nds and the save file being .sav
