Just out of curiosity. I know on the Wii, there was a way to start the console in "debug mode" so it didn't monitor anything you ran.

I was going to use that Play Coin Setter program on my transferred emuNAND, but the problem is that then it shows Play Coin Setter in my software library, which makes it really obvious that I was using hacking tools. Opposed to just normal games which at least make sense to be in there.

Is there some way to run a piece of software in a way that doesn't log it in there? I'm under the impression that even if I delete it from software library, it's still there, and Nintendo can still see it.

Most likely no, until Gateway add a way to do this.
Since the games are being launched from the system menu, naturally everything will be logged as if it were a normal retail game.
And we have no way of currently manipulating the system menu or the way Gateway launches games.

If Nintendo were to do a proper check, there would be tons of things that could tip them off, like the amount of time you spent in your settings menu, games that were of different region, e-shop titles that weren't tied to any of your console's NNIDs and so on. I wouldn't worry too much about the logs, because if they're of any importance, we're all screwed just the same.

You could fake the banner and title to something else.

sure, but the amount of time in the settings menu would not be used because there is nothing wrong with just opening settings and leaving it on for a month.
but yes, eshop and region free could definitely be used... regardless of people worrying about online play, headers etc...
nintendo could simply block us from the shop for having other region games in our play log.
is the play log sent to nintendo? probably, just like sony does, just like amazon does...
when we delete things from the log, the disappear, but the time is not freed up, it still adds to the total time stuff, whatever.
but when we delete it, is it actually wiped from the log history that we cannot see?
    who knows :o

You can change that as well (on the SDK dev tools, at least)

And more importantly, who cares? As soon as Gateway allowed playing out-of-region backups, I started doing it, and so far it didn't get me in trouble. I didn't bother to delete the logs, either. If worst comes to worst, all Nintendo can really do is ban us from eShop, which wouldn't be wise, since despite using Gateway, I actually do buy games, both on cartridges and via eShop. Take that away, and what's left? Games on cartridges every now and then, and eShop piracy all the way. In other words, I'm not worried. With all of the reported losses, the last thing Nintendo would want is to cut people off. They can prove me wrong, but I don't think they will. There's virtually nothing to gain by banning users.

This is getting out of hand. There are so many paranoia threads about being banned popping up all over the place. The mods should do some proper cleaning up of this forum.

For the last time, nobody nose. If you're worried about being banned, you should go full legit and pay for all your games. Using GW brings about so many noticeable triggers, what nintendo would do is entirely up to them.

Well here's the thing. I have one console I go online with and keep updated, and a second one with a hardware NAND flasher that I use for Gateway purposes. Right now, my normal one is in repair (the touch screen started acting up and it was under warranty), so I did a system transfer to my other console. I'm swapping between normal and emuNAND/4.5 so I can run the Play Coin Setter, otherwise I'm not using Gateway stuff at all.
So on the "proper" system, I won't have any of that stuff except for Play Coin Setter. Plus, I go in system settings a lot anyway, just to update my Internet connections and stuff since I'm on the move a lot.

When you delete a game from your play log it doesn't actually delete it. It just hides it. If you play it again it comes back, with all the history you had before as well.

Though I HAVE heard that if you reach a certain number of titles, the old ones get erased to make room for new ones?

It's not that I'm worried about being banned, as I said above in this post, I don't use Gateway's stuff at all with my "proper" 3DS. I only just did it to give myself 300 play coins a few times, because it certainly beats having to walk around forever and constantly change the date.

They could ban your online use. They're kind of incorporating the NNID accounts into online and I think that will be what they do moving forward. Essentially like banning an xbox 360 user from online.

Yeah, I've considered that. But the problem is I have almost 80 friends now and it would give me a new friend code, that would be such a hassle just to hide traces of one piece of software :(

Yeah, I don't think you're going to get any answer that you're looking for.
