My Wii died, so I figured I want to play gamecube.

What is the easiest solution to run backups on a PAL gamecube?
Any softmod? Or modchip?

The Gamecube had a few soft mods in it's time. Most of them are unavailable now, but you can still find specific SD launchers that can double as a modding device. I wish I could remember specific names right now, but sadly, I can't. Most, if not all of the mods available for the Gamecube require the use of burned mini-DVD's in order to run back-ups.

I read somewhere that it is also advisable to lower or raise the laser (I think it was lower, might be wrong) in order to preserve the life of the laser while reading burned games.

Well, I dont really care about lifespan of the gamecube lol. Can pick up another one for 10 pounds at local stores here.
