Have it known that at this time, this is a RUMOR and SPECULATION. It may change. Here are the first rumored details about what the game will be like and what's up with the development-

- developed for the younger crowd
- developed by the 'storybook' team (Secret Rings, Black Knight)

- storybook franchise has been killed off, following poor sales of Sonic and the Black Knight
- not a huge learning curve
- marketed to general, mainstream Wii owners
- early press hands-on seem positive
- Tail's playability may only be available in multiplayer
- pointing/touching of in-game items
- may have some gameplay elements that liken it to Super Mario Galaxy

- playable at E3

Doesn't look too far off for a rumor. I dunno what to expect till we get some gameplay screens or videos. In TRUE confirmed news, the Wii version is being developed solely by Sonic Team. The DS version will be dually developed by Sonic Team and Dimps. If the past is anything to go by with Dimps, the DS version might end up being superior!

So it's going to be crap and maybe a Mario clone. What happened to Project Needlemouse!

Read that and all anticipation was gone. Why they keep the same team that make shitty games time and time again is beyond me. If they made a good enough Sonic game it'd not only sell well but play well too.

I dunno, there were some good reviews of Secret Rings, and I felt bad for seeming to be the only person who didn't like it.

I'm beginning to think they just can't anymore though. Sonic 4 will be the one that says whether they still have any talent or not. If that fails in gameplay, i can only conclude that SEGA just lost whatever talent they had in the early 90's. As it is though, Dimps was doing a remarkable job with the Advance series IMO. The first one at least captured the classic feel.
iNFiNiTY has leaked quite a lot of information on Sonic 4, and from what I've seen, it looks like complete shite.
It doesn't even have fully functional gravity.

The game is not even released yet. Things like handling are still being worked on like the developer have already stated several times.

I`m sick of people treating the leak as a final product, when SEGA particularly stated, that they are fixing these issues, because consumer expectations were not met... I think people should show a little appreciation for that. How the level-design is bad I still don`t get...

But Sonic 4 is not on topic so...

lets just say that it being an exclusive downloadable release, including on the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad, says it all.
Enjoy your shovelware

How can Sonic be changed to be aimed at kids? From the first game it was always twee characters and a cartoon hedgehog with a sassy attitude. If anything they've tried to make is more 'mature' with stupid shit like guns and swords and werewolves and we all know how that turned out.

And the PS2 and XBOX. I thought Shadow the Hedgehog was originally going to be a story filler at first, but was aimed to be more of a mission type game.

I say skip all this new sonic crap, and download sonic megamix.

It's a rom hack of the first sonic, but they added Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, and that armadillo guy.

Everybody has a unique move set, with added stuff like homing attack, light speed dash, and tail's spinny thing. It's freaking awesome, and they released a Sega CD version so if you have a Sega CD you can burn it and play it like that.

I think that's what they are trying to achieve in Sonic 4, except with 3D-ness. And Fail.

The level design is perfect and there's about a million different ways to go through the level, so everytime feels different and exciting. If you haven't already heard of it, I'd check it out. It's freaking sexy.

These two make me not want to play the game...

Right, because that's why the games didn't sell well. Not because of broken controls or anything.
