Here's an interesting bunch of rumors for you guys. While we already know that various flash carts work on the 3DS when playing DS games, it seems like that might have been planned from the beginning. Rumor has it that the 3DS can actually keep a log of activity that will make note of whether a flash cart was used or not. Furthermore, retailers will be able to check this log, and if they see pirate activity they will not be able to do a trade-in.

That's not even the worst part. We're also hearing that the 3DS will see an update that will block the system from booting up if you've used a flash cart. In other words, if you're playing a pirated game, Nintendo could send out an update that kills your system! Finding a workaround for that might be a bit tough, and quite bothersome as well.

Finally, the last rumored update is one that pertains to curse words on the 3DS. As you know, the system currently accepts curse words and other dirty language when it comes to naming things on the 3DS. It seems that an update is on the way to squash that kind of activity. Thanks to Ruf for the heads up!

EDIT: at least this thread is properly organized (the new BBCode and all)

If this is true, this will suck, I have a majority of my games that are on my MSD owned, I just don't like lugging them around. And as AnotherWorld said, I highly doubt they would brick the systems because of it...

As someone said before, this would be a huge financial and PR disaster for Nintendo.
How can Nintendo prove that only those who used a flash cart bricked their 3DS? What if all those with a bricked 3DS filed a class-action lawsuit against Nintendo?
Any smart company (meaning not Sony) knows better than to do something like this.

I almost believed this but I am pretty sure teh 3DS's activity log only keeps track of 3ds games and NOT Ds games. Someone correct me if im wrong but I dont think that this is possible. Anyone who has a 3DS check ur activity log do DS games show up?

Nintendo may hate flashcarts....but they aren't evil....they would never do something like this

bricking is still unlikely, the log and block of curse looks really interesting and useful for retailers and parent resp. Seems like security of different sorts is being implemented and not the common software auto block or detect

Another World said:
i seriously doubt nintendo will brick their system with their own update.

Yeah, I don't think they legally could if they wanted to. This is a company that is very conservative when it comes to what they could get sued for. I don't think they'd go out of their way to try to instigate the issue.
