I pasted "cbvc.cdn.nintendo.net" into the KLOTH.NET site to test if my Router is successfully blocking the Wii U updates, this is what came up:

DNS server handling your query: localhost
DNS server's address: 127.0.0.1#53

Non-authoritative answer:
cbvc.cdn.nintendo.net canonical name = star.cdn.nintendo.net.edgekey.net.
star.cdn.nintendo.net.edgekey.net canonical name = e10534.g.akamaiedge.net.
Name: e10534.g.akamaiedge.net
Address: 23.74.197.66

From what I read in "The Definitive Guide To Wii U Hacking" thread, it seems that comes up if Router is NOT blocking updates, yet I still see the Red "X" on the Download icon on the Wii U Menu Screen... Not sure if Router is blocking updates... Any help/thoughts on this appreciated :)

Have you checked if you have the DNS installed on your Wii U to block updates?

I think that means it's using the localhost on kloth.net, and not your computer. You don't need a website to check if it's blocked on your network, just enter "ping cbvc.cdn.nintendo.net" in a command prompt.

Is there any particular reason that you can't use DNS-based blocking? Router-based blocking is out of my line of help, as I don't have a compatible router. (*cough cough* Android Hotspot)

If it is about Tubehax's recent downtime, there is a second DNS that you can use, 104.236.072.203

That second DNS works great. Also, as someone else told me, don't forget to disable standby functions.

DNS blocking should be enough to prevent updating, router blocking and others are just extra protection.

The second DNS "104.236.072.203" is more reliable? What do I input for Primary DNS and 2nd? Do I still input "0.0.0.0" for 2nd?
For primary enter the 104.236.072.203 one, and for secondary either enter 0.0.0.0, or if you want enter in Tubehax. If the primary were to ever be down (which I don't think it ever has been), then it would go to Tubehax, which surely wouldn't be down as well. 0.0.0.0 would make connecting to the internet fail should the primary DNS be down.

Ok, thanks :)

With DNS Wii U update blocking active, can I still access/use internet to use TCP Gecko and Saviine?

If your phone is rooted you can use adaway and add the urls to your hosts file.

That kloth site never accurately reports what's being blocked for me. Stuff that absolutely is blocked gets reported as not.

I still see the Red "X" on the Download icon on the Wii U Menu Screen

Then it's blocked.
