I don't really get what rominator is, can someone just tell me?

As the topic description suggests, it's a Ultimate Rom (Game) Manager. It organizes your nds files and has loads of features to get the best out of all your Roms.

The only speed issues I have noticed, is when viewing the Rom Statistics.

I change the 'view' by initially selecting 'Missing Roms' and this takes longer than I would expect to refresh. For each country I remove, I also have a wait of several seconds.

That is because it is querying the database for over 2000 entries and filtering each one to see if it passes the filter, so normally that would take a couple seconds

However I'm always working on improving the speed so there may be fixes in a near future build

Would it be possible to have the option to have it auto flash the latest save file of none of the older save files are checked? Or maybe when you do not have one checked it will import the game and then bring up a window where you could choose your save file or not flash a save at all.

actually what will happen is the latest save file that has been backed up will automatically be checked. This will make it so when you do flash it, it will flash your latest backed up save.

Just as good. Thanks for the reply.

I just thought of one more idea. Instead of only being able to auto rename roms how about you could have it do multiple things upon import? Like auto rename, verify CRC32, and then finally auto compress the file using .rz?

Does 2008 have the ability to choose how the Auto-sort?. The previous versions allowed you to select by name or number. I am sorry if it's there but i just can't find it. Thanks in advance

Hehe hey hankchill, everyone is bugging you and I do too

This question maybe sound stupid but the donation window says that the serial number is unique to your system.
I want to donate something but I will upgrade my PC in a few weeks (complete new mainboard, CPU and RAM).

So should I wait because the number I would now get will be unusable in my new system or is it no problem?!

I'm here to be bugged!

If you donate and get a serial number, and then upgrade your system, just send me an email with the new key code and I'll send you a new serial number for your computer. The way it works is "1 license per donation" so it's just transferring from one computer to another

Look out for this in v2008.4

Can you imagine importing even 20 games and post-processing like this when it doesn't have to? I know I wouldn't want to do that

Simply enough, if you want to do that, it's 2 clicks -- One to drag and drop the games into Rominator with Auto-Rename enabled, and Two to click the 'Compress' button -- Compressing automatically calculates CRC32 as it stores it in the header of the rz file.

Is there any way to keep the toolbar open by default. Could rominator remember this setting for next resart?

ps brilliant program!!! thanks in advance

It's been mentioned already that Windows will not auto-show the toolbar upon opening. There is code for it to remember the status of the toolbar, and it does work (as OS X has no issue with it) but Windows won't take it. It's a Windows bug unfortunately.

Rominator 2008 was working great for me, until today - every time I open it now I get a dialog titled "Windows - No Disk", saying "Exception Processing Message 0xc0000013 Parameters 0x75DE92A0 0x00000004 0x75DE92A0 0x75DE92A0" with Cancel, Try Again, and Continue.

No matter which button I click, the dialog just beeps and re-appears. I can only get out by using Ctrl, Alt, Del and killing the Rominator.exe process

Every since using Rominator 2008 I've had 1 list set up as my main list (with all ROMS from my hard drive), and my card set up pointing to J:\NDS (which is a 4GB microSD card attached via a USB adapter). 2008.1, .2 and .3 all worked flawlessly this way, whether or not I had the microSD inserted when opening Rominator (if I didn't, I simply inserted the USB adapter with card in, and it just popped up fine in Rominator)

I've not changed anything since yesterday, indeed my PC has been off all day.

I did notice similar behaviour in the old Rominator, but only with card readers, not with USB adapters.

Using Vista HP 32bit.

Great program, by the way.

EDIT: I think I figured out what's causing it - I just plugged my microSD card in via USB adapter (to the same USB port I always use), to see if Rominator would work ok with it inserted, and I noticed for some reason Windows is now labelling this drive as K:

Very strange, since it ALWAYS uses J: usually. I looked in My Computer, and J: is still there, but says no disk inserted. Very weird, as I've changed or added nothing at all since yesterday.

Problem is I can't get into Rominator to change the settings to tell it to look for K:!!!

Anyone know how to force Windows to always use a certain letter for a specific card?

I'm doing this from memory so forgive me if I'm wrong but you find the "Computer Management" program under Administrative Tools and under the storage tree is Disk Management. Find your drive, right click it and click "change drive letter and paths." I think you can figure it out from there.

Yeah thats true. Then maybe I think it would be good to have get Rominator to have some sort of indication if it is compressed or not. So that way when you import 20 or so games you can easily see which are compressed or not.

There already is.

Tools --> View Options. Click 'File Type'. That'll show what kind of file it is.

Icons are not dipslay even after i do a "identify zip".
furthermore you extract the zip to a temp file in "C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxxx\Local Settings\Temp" which doesn't get cleared afterwards this fills up my disk with rubbish.

I fixed the icon issue today with Zips, it will be reflected in 2008.4 update. I just have a couple more things I want to do before I make an update.

After Rominator extracts the zip file and processes it, it deletes the rom, but leaves everything else in there -- Just clean up your temp files regularly, it's good for your computer anyways
biggrin.gif

It does this on my my XP machine too - is there a way to stop it from using C: for the temp files as I keep my roms on another drive due to my lack of available drive space on C:

Basically, it seems to take up GBs of room in the temp files after I've added all my 2000+ roms - I've deleted all the files in the temp dir and I've lost all my icons now.............very odd.

When you say it deletes the rom after it extracts the zip file and processes it are you talking about it deleting it from the zip or from the temp dir? (If you mean the temp dir then it doesn't on my installation)

Unfortunately it will always use your user account's temp folder, so if you don't have the room, I can't do anything about that.

Weird how it doesn't delete the rom from the temp folder -- When you identify it or decompress it, it unzips to the temp folder, and when it finds the rom, it extracts the data and then deletes it -- It leaves all of the folders behind though, because they cannot be cleared without being empty, and sometimes there are images and such inside the zip as well. The rom itself should delete from the temp folder.

I'll do some more testing over the next day or two.

QUOTEHank, is there any reason why (in Windows Vista at least) the Rominator window can't be maximised?
Can't maximize on any system... I've been thinking about it though
smile.gif
Reason why, is because currently you cannot adjust the size of the columns in the rom list, so it has a maximum width, as well as an expandable/collapsable toolbar, so maximizing might not be the best thing to do with that toolbar present. We'll see
