Amazing program mate it's truly amazing, my only question is, does the trimming that does Rominator make the download play fail? or is the same trimming as the official trimmer from the R4/M3simply website?

Almost all trimmers do the same job. I don't know why it would make Download Play fail, I've trimmed lots and all of my games work perfectly. If you do want to be sure, make sure you select 'Use Safe Trimming' or 'Preserve WiFi data', depending where you are at.

Also if you're using an R4/M3 Simply make sure you have one of the latest firmwares where they fixed download play.

i deleted the rominator program but i cant delete "._Rominator for Windows.exe" because it says that it is being used by another program?

Restart and try, if that doesnt work, ctrl alt del and close all the processes in your username in except for taskmanager and explorer.exe and try again

doesnt work!!

ive tried restarting
ive tried ending all possible processes (i can never get to only task manager and explorer though - some processes just wont end)
and ive tried running safe mode

i dont even know where "._Rominator for Windows.exe" came from and i cant delete it....

edit: nurmind - i restarted in safe mode with command prompt and i did a forced deletion =/

Oh good

I'm making a solid effort to remember to delete this file from the archive each time I compress a new build

Which brings me to my next point: Salamence has been working closely with me and by this weekend we should have a solid v5.3 available. Lots of great changes! (including many Zip related fixes). I'll post the changelog when it releases.

Your sarcasm worries me.
Is that ._Rominator file important? I hope I didn't mess up anything when I deleted it...

No, the file isn't important at all. It is just an extra resource used by Mac OS X, and has no meaning to Windows users. of course, the OS X users won't see it, which is why I need to remove it from the Zip file.

************WE HAVE A WINNER*************

salamence502 has found the easter egg!

Although, he said that he does not need the price of having advertising space for a website in the message window, he would like to pass it on to another user who finds the egg. Here are the hints again:
- Another System
- 330
- Try and Find It
- Search the Stars Across the Galaxy

Congrats to salamence, but I don't understand the hints and the "urmrgay" thing. Explanation please?

In Super Mario Galaxy, the title on the box only has shiny stars under the letters U R MR GAY

Surprise
tongue.gif

It was a pain in the arse to find it, I had it all along but kept trying to find 'u r mr gay'. After, to use my last bit of hope, I entered 'urmrgay'.

Surprise!

In Rominator 5.3, there's a new easter egg added. I'm pretty sure it's a little harder than the urmrgay one. Just wait until Hank releases the proper build of v5.3.

Rominator has now been updated to v5.3.

Before I show the changelog, I just wanted to mention that there are now TWO user guides available for Rominator:
Quick Start Guide - Written by salamence502
The Quick Start guide will assist you in getting set up, and briefly explain Rominator's main features.

Official User's Guide - Written by Hank Chill
This one is the full-blown guide to every nook and cranny regarding how Rominator operates. Absolutely every feature is covered here, so if you're already familiar with Rominator, this guide is for you.

These guides are also accessible from Rominator under Help -> Rominator Help. You'll be taken to the site where you have the option on which guide you'd like to download.

On to the v5.3 changelog:
[FIX] Fixed error 1023 when editing the name of a list (double clicking), and then creating a new list. The new list did not register in the database; this has been resolved.

[+] Revamped the way Smart Lists work. Now you can have as much criteria as you want, so for example you can search for games from regions USA and Europe, instead of being limited to 1.

[FIX] Fixed a bug that would not remove the .nds file after rZipping it. My bad.

[+] Advanced Zip Detection. Your game can have multiple files in it and it will still be recognized, so for those collectors who keep original Zips that has all the NFO's and images, it'll find the Zip file. However, if there is over about 20 files in the zip, it will have to be manually identified. Please make sure only 1 NDS file is in the zip though.

[FIX] Fixed an identification bug that would sometimes cause Rominator to not save the identified information of a Zip.

[FIX] Fixed a problem where flash cards would multiply in the dropdown list of the Rom Queue.

[+] Smart Lists can now be edited, so you are free to modify the criteria anytime!

[+] I can't believe nobody pointed this out! Publisher has now been added to the Details!

[FIX] Netherlands in the Region Filter under Statistics has been fixed. If you disable it and leave the statistics, and come back, it will now stay disabled.

[+] Zipped games can now be flashed from the Rom Queue in the Toolbox

[+] Zipped games can now be used in the Rom Validator in the Toolbox

*A new Easter Egg has been added. See if you can find it!*
First clue: Haxx0ring won't help you

Enjoy!

You taunt me.

My gut instinct tells me that there's an alternate meaning to that statement. "Haxx0ring" won't help you achieve whatever the subject of the easter egg is about, let alone the actual egg.

Whenever I delete a ROM from my microsd card through Rominator OSX, it always leaves behind a ._RomName (I noticed somthing about similar files mentioned above...) is there anyway from keeping them from remaining? (other than manually deleting them with DSO or something) They kinda clutter up my ROM directory...

This is not Rominator. This is Mac OS X. Pretty much every file has a '._' file, that acts as a resource fork for that game. You will either need to manually remove those files, or use a piece of software such as BlueHarvest, or WinFSCleaner, etc. I'll see if I can incorporate the deleting of these resource forks in a future release, I know that one time I tried and it didn't go over too well for some reason, but I have other ideas so I'll see what I can do

I don't think you're auto-updater is working.

For the software, not for the database.

I updated to v5.3.1 and every time I open it, it shows multiple errors.
Then my library was deleted.
When I try to move the window, it would crash and lock up the screen.
I'd have to kill the processes, and it starts all over again.

Nice.

I had to re-download Rominator and start from scratch.

Hey i get multiple errors every time i start 5.3.1 version

Here is the "Report"

First error: code 1057
then i click OK then
2nd error: code 1033
click OK
3rd error: code 1034
OK

Then the program starts ,and if i try to move the rominator window i get 1033 error and my PC freezes
Then i close program via the Task Manager

I am running Vista x64 Ultimate

I think your settings corrupted during the update. It's happened to a couple of people. Delete the settings.rsd file from within the Rominator Data folder, and let me know if it fixes it.

I have tried deleting the settings file but unfortunately this has made no difference

I had the same problem. I just backed up my Games directory, deleted Rominator, downloaded the most recent version, copied my games directory to the new copy of Rominator, and had it scan the directory for new games. A fresh installation.

EDIT:

Oh, and HankChill, any chance of us getting "XXXX" ROM support?
