Hacking Rominator Database Update info

I just want to say thank you for your continued support of the Rominator database. I'm a long time user from when Rominator first came out.

I realise that what your doing can sometimes seem like a thankless task as the feedback can be few and far between. Rest assured though that your effort is greatly appreciated by myself and undoubtedly by the many users who continue to utilise Rominator.

Your attention to detail ensuring that the database is 100% correct is fantastic. I tend to be a bit too particular when it comes to keeping things organised and it's great not to have to worry about it on this occasion.

Here's hoping Hankchill returns with a new 'all singing, all dancing rom manager' (that automatically updates

) and that he will recognise your continued dedication and be able to utilise your skills in an ongoing capacity.

Again, thank you for the time and effort you put into these updates.

I have download the software rominator v2008.20, but when I open rominator.exe, i have this message : "error : Rominator is unable to save the settings; the file may be missing, write protect, or corrupted"
An idea to help me ?

Unfortunately I am not a Windows user, so I am unsure of what files need to be moved where. You could always start fresh (delete the data folders) and re-add the folder(s) where your ROMs are. The only information that would be lost is box art (which can be re-downloaded) and game SAVs if you were backing them up.

If the above recommendation is not what you had in mind, perhaps one of the experienced Windows users on the forum can assist.

Weekly Rominator Update
OMG! 38 Updates and 23 releases this week

Release Notes
DS-Scene did a massive renumbering on February 11th. This caused releases 5411-5555 to be increased by 1 due to the insertion of 5411 Hidden Objects (U), which was previously skipped due to being an under-dump. I edited the database to match DS-Scene and had to renumber all the box art from 5411. To be current, you will need to download the box art from the 5251-5500 set and all newer sets. Once you install these, you will need to refresh all game lists to match up the box art. Sorry about this, but it's the price I had to pay to keep the numbering accurate. Trust me, it was a lot of work. I hope you find it worth it.

Go into preferences and turn of the auto-update feature. Not sure exactly where you find it, but it will speed up application starting. This is because it is timing out while looking for an update server that no longer exists.

Mine takes 10-20 seconds to start. It may have something to do with having 5000+ box arts in the folder or hundreds of ROMs in my inventory.
