I feel sorry for the 30,000+ people who lost their jobs. As if the unemployment rate isn't high enough already.

my thought exactly, as if it wasn't hard enough to pay ones way through college or expenses, and for managers and career opportunists in Circuit City it certainly bites; that if they choose to stay in retail they have to re establish themselves elsewhere. With the economy as it is, it makes me sick that this generation gets crapped on with the mistakes of the previous one, but this will hopefully mature our generation and make us smarter workers that can better compete for the jobs available and improve the world for the next generation

I bought my current hard drive from Circuit City... only to find the exact same drive at Target for $10 less. At least they were willing to refund me the $10 difference.

Otherwise, their prices were a lot higher than everyone else. Circuit City is going under for the exact same reason KB Toys closed down, and it's not because the economy is bad- the only reason is because consumers have finally wised up and decided to shop elsewhere, in stores where the exact same goods cost less to begin with.

Unfortunately, I expect their beginner discounts in this sale will only drop to match what other stores are alreay charging. Give it time before the real discounts begin.

One thing I always hated about Circuit City is how the salesmen are almost always immediately in your face trying to sell you what you don't want.

It is because they get commission so the more they sell the more money they end up making.

Early days. They may end up cutting prices even more.

Remember, they still need to make money, even if they are going into liquidation.
