Riiski so far will include

1. updated hacks.ini
2. new health screen, and a couple of sysmenu changes to show what we are aiming for.
3. a updated guide.
4. hopefully a better installation method.

The custom GUI and HS is too much for me.
I think, my Interface should not be modified, 'cause all that I want is to Play my backups in Disc Channel without rebooting and Backup Launcher.
I don't need region free and some other things.

I understand that you don't want somebody to copyright your work as it's own (I understand that, as I'm working as a photographer / media artist).
And I would pay for a chip (but I don't want a chip), as I would pay for a "secure" modding software w/o too much modification.
Copyright is ok for me... but not change everything on it.

Maybe v2 of RM is my first choice because, it seems to have all that I want right now.

the custom GUI is not so much a copyright issue mate, where just trying to show what can be done...the custom system menu is mainly for our own benefit since we will have it first...

whether or not we will release the custom GUI as part of Riiski or the custom menu will branch out and will become SoftMii will remain to be seen, finding a safe way for people to install it the main issue.

if it was to be released as a .wad the wad would overwrite preloader/starfall which would be fine as it would have been tested and dumped directly from both mine and digitys Wii and would be a working Riiski install packed into a .wad, our method of changing the files at the moment writes the files directly to the NAND FS...this is not a viable option for general release as its messy and if not used correctly could brick your Wii, its a new program written specifically for doing such things like this. and we have yet to see a issue with it as we are writing to the specific files needed only

00000042.app contains the graphics the Wii uses to put together the Wii menu, the other .app files contain the sysmenu, preloader and other parts of the Wii's internal FS, so providing we leave them alone we have been able to recover from any issues we've experienced.

hopefully we will be able to finish the mods on both mine and digitys console and then after the .wad have been tested we would pass it out to a chosen few and let them try it out... anybody hanging around for V3 expecting it to come today or even this week your wasting your time...a proof of concept video will come when digity is happy with the graphics sides of things i'll shoot a video and let you all see, you've already seen a pic of the changed message board so you know we are actively doing this...just give us time......

in the mean time...try to keep this thread nice and clean.

what about collaborating with forsaekn and his cSM. what you are planing sounds very similar to me. maybe combining your affords will end up in a better result and shorter release cycles.

i am willing to collaborate with anyone who wants to bring something to the table..as i have said before
we all have a common goal, we've pretty much nailed back up loading...besides the odd game. if you want 100% buy a chip.

lets see what we can make this system menu do i say.....

however cSM is abit different, and to be honest cSM will probably 0wn us lol, but while were waiting for Fors to return...
lets just have a bit of tinkering shall we in a nice friendly calm manner.

Hey guys, I have had a good read through these forums/posts but can't find a definitive answer to what I would like to do. I want to install this softmod rather than the gamma channel I currently have installed. My current setup is:

Wii 3.2E
cIOS249-IOS36-rev07
Twilight Hack - HBC - Backup Launcher Gamma
Starfall Installed

My question is - Can I just go ahead and install this mod with my current setup? what do I need to remove or do I need to revert my Wii back to stock and start over. Any help would be most appreciated.

Yes you can - I had the same setup. Just proceed from Phase 2 - its that simple.

the Any Region Changer install another SysMenu, so if you have PreLoader and Starfall previously, it'll get deleted by this new SysMenu that gets installed because of Any Region Changer, but if you want you can update to 3.4 then format your Wii so you can start from a freshly new Wii....!!!

I know everyone is getting a little annoyed with the repeating questions, but that's inevitable with a post that it 77 pages long. The search function is great, if you know what you are looking for. I have read most of this since it was about 15 pages long, so I know what's going on, but I can understand the frustration on both sides. I don't mean to flame either side of the argument, but here goes.

1. Search more and read lots.
2. Take it easier on those who are interested in the project, and seem to be trying.
3. Let the guys who jump on and yell that they "don't get it" but put no effort in, get their butts kicked by the flames.
4. We need to start a blog or wiki or something to try to condense this stuff.

I guess that's enough bitching.

This softmod stuff is just great, and it's quickly getting to the more simple version like the XBox. I know that making it less automatic means that hopefully there are fewer problems, but I'm sure that someday (and it looks like it could be soon), there might be a simple process (not 50 steps) that can be used, although even now, it's not that hard.

Props to all involved. Other than testing discs, I don't really have to expertise to help, but I sure appreciate everyone's efforts. Thanks, all.

Actually for NTSC-U users only is required to use the cioscorp installer, the CIOScorp pack and the SysMenu_hacked_v289.wad that I make, the rest is not needed at all, but clarky wanted to guide those with a vanilla Wii with no TH - HBC - Gamma Loader, that's why ALL the people are asking how to install HBC here, how to use the TH here, how to Downgrade here, how to install PreLoader here, how to walk thru the street without been hit by a car, etc etc etc.....

Personally im chipped but my mum isnt and just done hers...she's over the moon with the disc channel loading...
