Well, I am going to try to return it and get one of the Limited Edition ones if I can. Either God of War or Daxter, since I believe almost all of those still have the old motherboard, unless they've started creating those with the new one as well. If thats the case, I guess my only chance is going to Game Stop and trying to get an older, refurbished PSP.

Here is the only thing that resembles a box code on my PSP box.

War, according to Alek the webmaster over at Dark-Alex.org, PSP 2000's that shipped with 4.01 are all fitted with the newest mobo by default. That would seem to indicate that yours was probably 3.95 or lower to start with, although you can check for sure if you still have your original packaging. But as i said there appears to be a slim chance that some 4.01's have the TA-88v2 and not the TA-88v3 mobo, but as a general ROT staying clear of 4.01 is good advice.

hold up a minute your psp clearly states 2007 on the box
if i'm right and i'd need to go through my check list the ta-088 v3 is a 2008 issue i'll send you the link via pm

isn't the Copyright symbol written in front of the 2007? then it would just be the copyright in 2007

I checked your link. Are you referring to my box being 2007? Basically, there's a slight chance my 4.01 doesn't have the unhackable motherboard, but it mostly likely is because all of the unhackable motherboards have OFW 4.xx, but not vice versa? I'd rather just be safe and buy a limited edition PSP. All of those are hackable right? Well, namely Daxter and GoW ones?

is your mms a fake? have you tested? fake mms wont run pandora
I have 2 fake MS from dealextreme made into MMS with PSP Grader v006, booted into pandora menu without problem.

TS: Power LED should lights up right when you insert the pandora battery without switching on the PSP, otherwise, you may have a unhackable PSP.

As he/she still hasn't mentioned the use of a magic memory stick. I've asked twice so far in this thread if he/she has one, but no reply; therefore I don't believe that he/she has one.

Really? I was pretty sure she-

QUOTE(esoterica @ Nov 16 2008, 09:15 AM) Edit: Oh, and of course I had the MMS inside.
Oh, would you look at that.

Ok, I've exchanged the PSP for a God of War edition, but there's a freakin dead pixel right in the smack dab middle of the screen! And the Pandora (and MMS) isn't working. I put it in and held L but the screen is just black with the power light on.

I got my psp at launch from japan (ooooo get me) It came with about 7 dead pixels..... after about 2 months I didn't give a rats ass.

This endless swapping will get you nowhere.

k now i know when i get my 2000 im get custom frimware cuz the MMS u use probably doesnt support magicgate

How do you know if my MMS isn't Magic Gate? It's a 256 genuine Sony pro duo tyvm. My actual card is an 8gb Lexar (only because it was $39.99 at Fry's). Anyways, I finally exchanged my PSP and have one that seems safe for now. No dead pixels, and came with 3.95 OFW. Now I'm gonna charge my Pandora battery and try it again.

To know if it has magic gate just highlight the memory stick, press triangle and select information.

I hope you don't mean a 256MB card... I don't think those are supported.
