Hi,

We have a switch running v18.0.1 on Atmosphere and I was wondering if I could install some multi retro games emulator.
Specifically looking to play old arcade games (including a couple of vector games), and old C64, Amiga, and old consoles all in one frontend.

Something quite dumbproof would be nice so that all there is to do is copy over the roms/game files.

Thanks,

hello,

easy answer, with one word : retroarch
it comes with lots of emulation cores (Amiga for example, here), unified interface, etc.

you may have to configure it like you want, put some bios files where/when needed, but nothing too hard.
and you can probably find some AIO packs (with roms, bios, etc.) if you search a little bit.

Yep Retroarch is pretty much it for what you're asking. There aren't any separate front-ends available on Switch, but you can use different themes in Retroarch.
Thanks, all I need is a package with all the directory structure for each emulator that I could drag & drop onto the usd card and then I can add my own games & system roms for those that are not legal to share. I found a couple of 256 GB packs with pretty much everything on it I suppose, but I'd rather get my hands on a 'lighter' package so that I can only add the few retro games I want to play while on holiday. So anyone with a smaller pack available, do not hesitate to pm me. Thanks

Can't share roms here.

This is exactly why I said I only needed the legit part of the folder structure so that I could add my own.

The folder structure is easy, you can just look at a guide, you put the roms inside the /roms/gba for like gba games, and /roms/snes for snes games.

Thanks, I thought (from reading whatever tutorial I found) that I needed to compile stuff before I could upload to the NSW console... and that TBH is all Greek to me.
Is the Retroarch download package from https://buildbot.libretro.com/stable/1.19.1/nintendo/switch/libnx/RetroArch.7z something I can simply extract to the root of the usd card ? Will it come with the structure for all emulators (Arcade, A2600, C64, Amiga, Coleco, ...) already created ?

You probably would have to install the core, also have to create the folders for those rom by console type like gba, snes, nes etc.

Thanks. Where can I find a guide with all the folder structure describing folders & subfolders per emulator you add to Retroarch ? Is there a complete list somewhere I could review before I actually attempt anything ?

There are guides out there but here is one example.

Thanks, so I assume I can create folders like C64, Amiga, A2600, Coleco ... ? There's no naming convention at all ?
Payload stuff (step 7) is kinda unclear for dummies like me. I suppose this is very simple stuff for many around though.

I assume your Switch is already hacked, if you want to play with emulators. For payloads, check this page of the guide.
It was initially SX OS, but over time I bought a new usd card and somehow (with the help of patient Gbatemp users) got it to run Atmo. I recall Hekate, or weird names like that but not sure what they do (my computing skills are somewhat limited as you can see). I am not even sure how I got it to work when I last updated to 18.0.1
My current card is getting full so I'd like to fit those few retro games in there to play when I am traveling or I can buy a new usd card and try to recreate the hack and have plenty of storage for a full retroarch package (with plenty of games I'll never ever play)

BTW, I don't have store or whatever this is called... to download extra stuff.
