Hello there,

RetroArch is working fine. Only PrBoom doesn't work. I added the prboom.wad to the folder with the other .wads (Doom 3 BFG ones). (I have no .cfg yet, but afaik it should be created automatically) If I start a .wad the system just crashes, sometimes with and sometimes without an error and then I need to reboot the Switch. Hope you can help me there, because chocolatedoom isn't the best sourceport.

Kind regards,
Prankst3r

edit:
I'm using FW 6.2 and AMS 0.8.7
Edit2:
Doom1.wad (shareware version) is running flawlessly
edit2: tnt.wad works since FW update to 7.0.1
My thinking is, that the BFG .wads doesn't work with the switch sourceports (chocolatedoom, kgdoom and prboom via RA)

edit3: Everything works now. Made a folder for each doom (doom1, doom2, tnt, plutonia and iwads). Downloaded the music files (google: retroarch prboom iwad; and take the third link). Even the BFG ones are working, only without music. Only problem still existing is the configuration of better controls. I would like to use the right stick to look around and strafe on the left stick.

edit4: controls now work nearly fine. Just don't touch the ingame settings. Last thing what sucks is the at first slow look left/right sensitivity and after idk 0.1 second it accelerates to the max nearly instant. Aiming just sucks with this...

You have to press R on an installed game (BOTW, Odyssey, etc). That will then launch the HBMenu with full RAM access. Then you can launch RetroArch from there.

I am using ams 0.8.6 and tried launching Captain Toad Treasure Tracker to then launch RA holding R. How do I check the RAM allocation is done properly? Inside RA information menu it says something like 3 out of 6 MB. Is this correct?

If you started hbmenu by choosing a game, and not the album, then you've done it right and got the ram you need, don't worry.

This is what makes me hope we might get Dreamcast emulation on Switch if the Retroarch devs want to do the work. Back in October Sega was talking about emulating Dreamcast on Switch themselves.

M2 president Naoki Horii: "At the time, it seemed likely that we’d be able to emulate Dreamcast software on the Nintendo Switch. Depending on whether you’re emulating software or remaking the source code entirely, porting something is completely different. I think SEGA chose some of the titles based on that – no doubt emulation increased the number of titles they were able to choose from."

That was back in October and I don't think Sega has said anything else since (unfortunately) but it just shows to me The Switch is powerful enough to handle Dreamcast emulation.

If gigaybyte, yes. ;)

anyone got scummvm working with retroarch on switch? mine just hangs and gets back to menu with latest nightly.

Does anyone here play PC Engine CD games on there Switch? I tried to run Gate of Thunder and RetroArch will ask what core to use, I select the PC Engine one and then the system locks up. I updated RetroArch in late March and the CD is in the CHD format.

At work so dont have exact details on hand but let me know what I should check and I will take a look.

Thanks for any help

Try the supergrafx core instead (also make sure you got all the bios files you need)

I have Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and it plays fine with Beetle PCE FAST. Do you have the bios in the system folder?

Question about themes: I’m working on a theme for my retroarch setup on the switch, should the background images be in 720 or 1080, as far as I know it’s 720 even when docked but I’d like some confirmation please?

Also curious about this one, couldnt find it even in the newer release.

guys, i deleted my retroarch.cfg to get back to a clean slate option wise and things were working fine, but after restarting retroarch, i'm not able to control anything anymore.
deleted the config several times, but still not able todo anything.

how and why is this happening? is there like a backup the config rebuilts itself from faultily or something?

i will never truly understand why anyone throught it would be a good idea to have the option of having no controls in menu---

edit: i restored a backup config that worked before, still nothing... controls are not in the damn config now? it seems like the only input it registers is touch = ok button.

had this a couple times a while back.
fixed it by deleting everything related to retroarch and copying it all back from the original nightly zip.
not sure why it happens
