Retailers want Wii U to be priced at £250 when it launches.

But Nintendo could be prepared to set a cost price that will allow shops to sell cheaper than that – and ensure the machine is this Christmas’ must-have gaming item.

Great news to hear that it could possibly be priced at £250 and below. Feel free to read the rest of the retailer's opinions in the link above.

That is pretty cheap but nothing is impossible. I also read from other forums that the price will be $299.

299 would still be horrible. With average state tax between 5-7% this means we'll still be paying over 300 for the system and no games...Nintendo land doesn't count as a real game BTW.

It is ridiculous to guess and assume something like that. Nintendo say themselves that they will make sure it is very affordable. I will wait for their reveal price. Be patient and stop complaint. :)

Are you guys really complaining about $300? Really?
Do you guys prefer $599 us dollars?

btw Games are there for every type of person rather you want them or not.

I know you guys expect the other console to be price around the same area if not more,so the complaining doesn't seem
quite fair.

Don't dis Nintendo land bitch.
On a more serious note, that would be a cheap and tempting price for a new console. Sadly, I haven't seen many games for the console that excite me for the Wii U.

I have never paid more the 250+ tax for a console. I have had every Nintendo console and Sega console.

£250 is 388.88 us Dollars...HELL NO!
lol no, it doesn't work that way. US shall be priced cheaper than that. We have 20% VAT and generally electronics are more expensive in the EU compared to the US.

Don't use direct conversions.

If if follows the trend from the past years, it'll cost around 311€ in most europe (direct conversion so it should be around that, maybe they'll round it to 315€), so that means in US the console would cost 315$, since a Vita costs 250€, a 3DS costs 150€, etc...

Stop complaining about horrible pricing, my country has a 23% tax in electronics and everything else that's not food. D<
My country and most of the other European countries will be paying 388$ for the console, whereas you'll get 70$ off, stop complaining when you don't have any reason to. D<
We're the ones that should be complaining about always paying more for the same system. z.z

Considering you'd need to buy an extra game pad, or some Wii motes if you don't have them PLUS at least 2 launch games, then it would be way more than this.

    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in

    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.
  • Veho @ Veho:
There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
