Hello everyone. I made a NAND Backup before using LayerFS and after Nintendo banning wave I decided to reset my switch. I know resetting didnt do anything but I was lucky and didn't get ban. I want to hack my switch again and have few question. I have SXOS

  1. What is the best tool for restoring NAND
  2. Is there anyway to see if you NAND is corrupt
  3. How safe is the backup in regards to getting ban
  4. If I remove my Nintendo Account could I play NSP games or do I need an account to play them. Can it be a local account or Nintendo One.

1.Hekate.
2.Hekate has build in checker now or hacdiskmount with Bis keys alternatively.
3.Unaltered Nand is about as safe as you can get from getting banned right now the key is staying offline and restoring Nand when you do go online.
4.No Nintendo account needed to play NSPs.

1. The only tool that can restore nand backups at the moment is hekate
2. You could try opening it hacdiskmount and checking the partitions (you'll need your BIS keys) and if it gives an error while opening it then it's probably corrupt
3. I don't think anyone has gotten banned for restoring a nand backup, so it's probably safe
4. I don't really know much about NSPs because I don't pirate games, but I don't think you need a Nintendo account to use them

Also if you don't want to get banned don't use NSPs because they WILL get you banned. Well if you don't want to get banned from online you probably should pirate in general because Nintendo is very good at detecting pirated games, but from what I've heard XCIs are the safest.

I suggest waiting a while. We may never get stealth patches to make homebrew/CFW 100% stealthy but at least we will get emuNAND at some point which is going to help a lot, so you can use emuNAND offline for all your homebrew/piracy needs and reboot back into stock NAND for online.

I try to verify the Nand backup but its in pieces for example rawnand.bin.00 till rawnand.bin.14

I try using HacDiskMount and i pick one piece (rawnand.bin.01) and it gave me an error [19:40:43:181731] [info] Trying to read partition table from [location]
How do I merge the part to see if the backup its not corrupt

The joiner tool on hekates releases page should merge them

Then make a NAND backup, keep your Switch offline and enjoy SX for now. But you may be banned anyway seeing as you don't have a clean NAND backup from before you did anything. Maybe in the future there will be a way to virginize the NAND and make it completely clean.

Ah, from your first post I assumed when you said reset you meant you just did a factory reset. But that NAND backup should be clean so you should be safe from bans in theory as long as you've never gone online after you hacked it.

Lets hope. I install SXOS then when online on OFW to unlink my NINTENDO ID. Hopefully that didnt send any red flags

Hey do you know how to install an NSP update. Do i use tinfoil or can i use SXOS homebrew menu. Also the update is in NSP format. Do you install it like a regular file and thats it
Im pretty sure you can use tinfoil, I think SXOS has an option to install NSPs as well which could be used

Also a small warning, installing NSPs is very likely to get you banned

How likely am I you to get ban if I stay offline the whole time then do a nand restore before going online

I have no idea :P

I mean its probably safe, but doesn't restoring a nand backup every time you go online seem a bit impractical :P. I guess if your fine with doing it you can try it.

Do keep in mind you will need double the effort though.
Clean NAND backup + Clean NAND restore (every time if you don't want to lose your progress)
Hacked NAND backup + Hacked NAND restore (every time if you don't want to lose newly installed games. Progress can be saved with Checkpoint or similar)

Its definitely a pain in the ass but I am going to stay offline the whole time and just go back online for smash
