Renegade Kid has a new game to tease your asses over, a surprisingly fluid and even fun looking 3D platformer for either DS or DSi Ware called Maximillian and the Rise of the Mutant Mudds. We do NOT yet know if this is a DS game or DSi Ware (or both)

Anyways, a couple of screens and a video have been released showing off their impressive 3D engine-

As you can see, this seems to be a third person 3D platformer AND a shooter. Maximillian even has a water cannon and jetpack like our favorite plumber Mario (from Mario Sunshine on Gamecube). I'd keep an eye on this.

Looks cool. If they go retail hopefully they can add some variety with the use of water similar to how sunshine did it with the different nozzles.

Looks meh. Doesn't look that much better than that Meet The Robinsons DS game.

This game will hurt your hands badly.

Hadrian must have watched the video with the sound off, the amazing orchestral soundtrack is what makes it.

Hadrian, I'm not sure if you meant the dpad and such, but the IGN preview has stated that you don't need to play the game with the stylus.

Well no stylus means less hand cramp but I always find that having to keep pressing up on a d-pad in a game still gives me cramp.

Oh god PettingZoo, I didn't even notice that sad pun! [IMG] Silliness indeed. Well I WAS referring to how smooth the engine was. They reused the Dementium engine. You could say it "flows" like a stream. [IMG] (okok I'm done)

On topic- This game is probably really early in development. I'd give it some time and we'll see what they can come up with. The game has a good base engine, lets hope they can make the levels unique. Music actually reminds me of Robocalypse for some reason...

Well the article says so far its being made by four guys on the side. So I would have to agree its early in development. There still alot of time for things to change. I think it has potential.

It sure has potential.. but for now.. looks OK.

Dementium was a good game, but it had a lot of flaws. MOON was better IMO, most of the problems were fixed but I don't like that kind of FPS. They keep evolving and they're trying something different from their usual work here.. I'm curious to see the result.

The game doesn't really look fun, but the graphics do looks pretty good.

Yeah, looks like Renegade Kid are trying to patch over lost sales by appealing to a younger demographic, which they especially need to do in the recession. The game looks okay, but nothing particularly of interest there that makes me feel like playing it.

If it helps, I was being sarcastic; the music is awful "generic shovelware platformer" music. Maybe you should look again again. [IMG]

Ehh, I lost faith in RK when moon came out. This looks repetitive too. And boring

Despite not being a fan of the FPS genre, I do like sci-fi and fantasy shooters. I actually LIKED Moon. I know a lot of people didn't, but I did. I liked both Dementium and Moon. I look forward to Dementium 2 and hope they make this platformer into something great. It's really too early in development to judge properly. This demo was a simple engine mod that apparently took them 2 weeks to do (with 4 people). I expect a lot of tweaks before release. Probably won't come out until well into next year.
