Hi ...
i have about 15 of this particular R43DS (.R4I-SDHC.COM) between friends and family
I Have been using this brand of R4 for the past year and find the support for updates and kernel pretty good.....i know that this R4 is another clone variant, but this is one of the better supported R4s, even this version of R4 has now been cloned..
Anyway up until the last few kernel updates , when u needed to do a kernel update u had to download a special update file and load it separately on a sd card,
but now they have the updater built into the main firmware, although this is handy for most users, they have not taking into account the very young or stupid user, who's sees this option and presses UPDATE... then gets fed up waiting and ignores the big warning message" do not turn off ds" , so i think that a few friends of mine have done this and bricked there r4!!!
i have emailed the team that support this and explained that to them , i got a response but i don't think they got what i was trying to say!
I have had a look through the firmware to try and locate the upgrade file and manually remove it but cant seem to find it....
anyone know a way of disabling the kernel upgrade from the new R4 firmware???
cramp
