Nice guide, working a Persona Q theme atm.

This might be a dumb question but are the BGM files saved outside of the "body_LZ.bin" file?.
my body_LZ.bin is 125kb which seems way too small to contain my bgm.bcstm file.

Going to test my theme if I can get tubehax running off my old 3DS.

Edit: Doh! posted in wrong thread. Can it be moved to https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-creating-a-3ds-custom-theme-from-scratch-with-yata-v1-1.393602/

No, the background music is saved in bgm.bcstm but to use this file you must check "enable use of bgm" in the theme you are working on

Bgm.bcstm and body_LZ.bin are two different files, so yes, it goes outside, sfxs go inside though

I'm new here and just started working on my first theme, however every time i convert my background music and install the theme, it comes out all static. Everything else is fine except for that. I'll link the files and let u guys see whats up.
Heres the link (Because gbatemp says its too big): https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByybQh5E3-9qcHJuMF90WERTSlE/view?usp=sharing
You bgm is corrupted, you should get the original wav and convert it again to bcstm

There is a plugin for Foobar2000 that lets you listen to the bcstm.
Try searching "foo_input_vgmstream" or something like that.

Here is another option.
The problem is the original song's length... you will not have an average sample if the original song is too long, so
sometimes would be better to think a way to loop a part of the song without losing the essence.
my version has the full length and but i had to lower the sample rate

Yes, for a song with that length, you have to sacrifice quality or some part of the song itself.
You cannot have all, unfortunately

I can't, the laptop is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too old. Right now i'm using another one but this one has Windows 7!
Well then. If it's a blue screen I think you can fix it by putting hard drive drivers on the installation disc. I never managed to do that but setting the disk to IDE instead of SATA on the BIOS fixed it (though it makes the drive slower or something).
